Default DiRT 2

Has anyone played the demo?

I felt it was just Grid with better graphics and obviously different cars and tracks. Despite that I'd still get it but I cant help crashing badly in every race, especially online.

So I might miss it.

I've been looking forward to this sgame for quite some; I really enjoyed DiRT.
Hopefully my console will be back by the time the demo is available to Silver members.

Played the demo, dont really like it, I think they should have focused more on the rally side of things instead of going towards the x-games angle.

I replayed it on a lower difficulty and it was pretty good.

I might consider getting it.

I'm downloading it right now.

Didn't even know the demo was available.

I've found a racing game I'm good at.

1st, 2nd and 4th [all out of 8] in my 3 online races.

On NFS I always came about 6th and on Grid usually whatever last place was.

I never really played online races in UnderCover... it seemed very 'laggy' when playing and also as if the other drivers had twice as much bhp as they were supposed... (I played quite a bit of Cops and Robbers, though. )
When I played GRID online I was usually near the top, but it varied quite a bit depending on the other players and which racing class the race was (and also if there were 'idiots' driving around the track in the wrong direction and taking out cars).

I'm yet to play the DiRT 2 demo (whether online or offline) so I don't know how I'll do on this racing game...
I used to do quite well on DiRT, though.

You really should do, Maxen. It's a brilliant demo.

Is there an online? I've never found it!

I've played it briefly now.
It was quite good but, as I've said, I only managed to play it briefly so I'm not yet sure how good it is...

I think there is. In the main menu (where you see the word "TOUR") press left on the Right Stick and you get the heading "MULTIPLAYER" and there should be an option for Xbox Live but as I do not have Gold, I didn't look into it further so I'm not sure if it's just a heading or whether it is actually Live-enabled.

In your RV?

I saw that on an IGN video, but didn't think it was possible in the demo.

Yeah, in the RV.
Instead of pressing A on Tour, press left on RS (or LS, possibly).

You can even select to go outside and view Options and your cars, etc.

Yeah, I figured all of that out, I just assumed there'd be nothing to do when I turn around.

But yeah, online is pretty good. Came third twice and second once in the trophy trucks, but there are some dirty racers online.

Is the online race selected by voting as it was in DiRT and GRID (I know there's only race type to choose between in the demo, but do you choose race-type before entering a lobby or do you vote on it between you when you get into the lobby)?

You vote.

It's annoying though, because everyone skips the Trailblazer. The people who were winning Baja (purely because they rammed into everyone) crashed or left when Trailblazer wasn't skipped. Just shows how much skill they have.

Ok. That system seems to be good, from the little I've played DiRT and GRID online.

I played Trailblazer three times and found two different cliff faces to leave the car on. And a power line, as well.
Hopefully there'll be fewer of them in the real game, but there were quite a lot on GRID and would just ram everyone in the first corner.
It shows a complete lack of skill, but often it takes a lot of skill to avoid being hit. Especially when starting at the front.

I can play the DiRT 2 demo more today; I got an Xbox back from Repair today!

I dont know if its because I'm generally at the front but on my matches most of the Baja bashes seemed accidental.

Trailblazer is kind of annoying because of how uncontrollable the Mitsu is.

Is anyone here getting it today/have any of you already got the game?

I've just watched the IGN Review and I must say, the game looks impressive. I think the guy was being a bit harsh, though, picking up on the lack of point-to-point rallying. It is something that I'd like quite a bit of, though.

Have you seen any mention of the game being a short in terms of hours offline? I was speaking to one person who, after three hours on Thursday, said he'd completed half the offline game...
I'd like to think the offline gameplay will last me longer than six hours...

Three hours seems a really short amount of time to half-complete the game, especially since in some of the footage I saw, pretty much the whole world map was filled with race icons. I doubt six hours is the offline play time.

I got this game and have been playing it all weekend.
It's a really good game but it keeps freezing in L.A. which is making racing there annoying and difficult.
I'm going to check the discs for scratches (it's a new disc, so there shouldn't be any scratches; the only time it's been spinning in the drive is when I installed it), but has anyone else had this problem?
It freezes several times repeatedly in the same spot every lap on different tracks in L.A.. However, it is not a freeze whereby the game and console crash, but *merely* a freeze for 0.5 seconds or so. Enough to make you crash if you're suddenly ahead of the game...

That's my only real complaint so far, though. The other eight locations have worked perfectly for me thus far and I'm now ~20% complete after 2-3 hours of track-time (but more like 4-5 hours spent playing the game)...

I heard the first one was quite easy to get achievements in (don't have it and not getting 2). Anyone think it will be the same for the second?
