In the first I've got all but one achievements (drive 1000 miles in career; there is no tracking of distance in career so I don't know how much left) and those were generally quite easy to get. They took a bit of gameplay to get, though...

In DiRT 2, it seems to be a similar kind of story; the requirements aren't particularly difficult but you need to put in a bit of time to get them all...

Has anyone found that in the demo, second country, Morocco I think, you can't get above 38mph?

No, I found it fine to get past 38mph. Got well past that from the start to the first major corner.

I didn't notice that in the demo, either.
I've even played that same Trailblazer event in the full game and had no such problems. In fact, I won the event.

[Not related to the above]
When you played the demo or full game, which difficulty setting have you used?
When I started on the demo, I was playing on the difficulty below Serious. I then got bored of that and tried with Serious and this is the level I started the full game on. However, before completing many 'Rookie' events on the map I again increased the difficulty; it is now on Savage. This level is really fun and a good match for me; I find myself having to be slightly more aggressive to get past others and I can only make one mistake or else they'll overtake again (or beat my time, depending on game mode).

Hey guys.

Surprisingly I haven't bought this yet and I was wondering if it lasts for a while. I bought Shift & enjoyed it, but it finished after about three seconds. Does it have a lasting effect?

The demo was brilliant but I'll need to know this. D:

I've been playing for about four hours (and the stats tell me I have had roughly 2.5 hours' actual track time) and am just 20% complete and it is still very fun to play. There are a wide range of events which differ quite significantly; even the same car feels different depending on the race type. The variety of game types (Trailblazer, Rally, RallyX [Rallycross] etc.) helps to keep the game exciting, especially as they are on different types of surface and so you need to be wary of different handling for each surface. Furthermore, for a specific race type, you may play one event with a fast Buggy but the next in a Trophy Truck which also keeps the game interesting.

[As Scarffo points out below, there is also the X Games events which I think are simply glorified regular events with more 'significance' but I'll be able to tell you more after I compete in one; I've qualified for X Games Europe and X Games Asia but have not yet taken part in those...]

And that's just offline. Online will probably keep you going for much longer, although I've yet to try it out.

Rent the game first if you're still unsure about whether or not to get it.

By RallyX, do you mean such as the X Games, or Rallycross?

Rallycross.
It's displayed as RallyX on the Map, I think.
Sorry for the confusion. I'll edit that now.

I need to pick this up.

I'll have quite a bit of money left over at the end of the month and there isn't much else to buy so I'll probably get this.

Ah, I didn't even realise that both were in the game, I just wasn't sure which you meant.

Ok. Yeah, they are both in the game. There's X Games Europe, Asia and America and then they've kept Rallycross from the first DiRT, except with different locations.
Sorry for the confusion, but thanks for pointing it out; I edited my post with information on the X Games as well.

There also seems to be some further events (which have only just appeared on my Map) which are for becoming a Champion, or similar, in each discipline...
Again, I'll be able to inform more on this when I progress further through the game.

Roughly 58% complete.
It's possible I played a bit excessively yesterday and today...
I've completed all Rookie and Pro events and one or two All-Star events. I have not yet done any of the X Games events, and have qualified for one of the events to prove you're the best in a certain discipline...

Froggy; how much have you already completed?
PS Each time I type your name I think that your username is Frogger...

online is pretty good, you get some losers that just take you off, but you just gotta learn to avoid them as best as you can

I heard you can go into two types of races or something? One with just guys that TBH are gonna try to push you off the track, and one which is proper racing?

I am currently using a 48 hour Live Trial card, so if anyone wants a race, PM me.

My Racing Wheel has stopped working (with Force Feedback).
A component in it broke, and so it does not give Force Feedback anymore...
I'd rather play with Force Feedback on the Wheel than without or with a gamepad, so I've temporarily stopped playing in the hope that this issue can get resolved soon...
