Im guessing its a 360, and you have/had it in the vertical position. Most likely cause would be then someone bashed or knocked the side of the console whilst the disc was spinning. Fairly common issue with 360's in vertical if they take a knock.

Course I could be wrong.... You could try a scratch repair kit but the scratches are usually too deep to repair... in which case your screwed.

Hope im wrong.

GAME shops and Gamestation do a disc repair thing for about £3.99 a disc, that must be worth a go.

I reckon the disc repair route is the way to go, gotta be worth a shot instead of forking out for another game straight off. That is if it doesnt play.. does it?

Hope you get it working.

Gamestation in my town do disk repairs for £1.99.

If it's unrepairable then you're one of the unlucky ones - Microsoft only replace games scratched in this method if they're games that they've produced such as Halo 3.

They always used to sell CD scratch repair kits, its the little bottle of solution you get thats the important bit along with the buffing pad. Have a look in Woolies or check out Amazon.co.uk: Fellowes - CD scratch repair kit: Electronics & Photo.

Its Disc burn for sure, common fault with the old 360 i'm afraid. And for some reason GTA4 suffers alot

I have just had the same with GTA4, if the laser moves away from the disc, it apparently increases the power which results in the ring you can see.

I have just returned my copy to game, who replaced it with no hesitation(err, even though I bought it elsewhere, cough cough, hint hint!!!).

I had looked into Take 2's returns policy, they will gladly replace the disc for a charge of £25, bet they ****in would, and upon production of a proof of purchase, what a crock seeing you can get the game for new thru ebay for around £20, and MS who will only replace MS produced games, even tho it was their crappy machine that caused it.

Before i went back to Game i took it into a few disc cleaning places, all of which said that it would remove 90% of scratches but not something like the 360 disc burn i'm afraid

The burn occurance nearly always happens when the 360 is vertical, pity MS dont tell you that when you buy the damn thing, a nice big sticker on the side of the machine saying, Standing this console in a vertical position can seriously F*$k up your game disk, should suffice!!!!

Good look mate

I've had the same problem, it's when I moved my console when it was on. I just took it to Game and they sorted it for me .

GTA4 does suffer alot from this.
I've gone through TWO disks already because of it.
It's never happened to any of my other games.
