No, it's the PS3 version.

PS3 GTA IV suffering freezing errors
Tuesday 29-Apr-2008 11:15 AM Small amount of issues reported on various units

A small number of PlayStation owners have reported problems with running Grand Theft Auto IV on their consoles, claiming the game keeps freezing.

"I got home from the midnight release with my copy of GTA IV Collectors Edition unpacked it live on the feed installed and guess what, it froze!" said Matt Griffin on his blog PlayStation Network Home. "I tried a couple more times and it even have reinstalled 3 times, it still keeps freezing."

Similar problems are being reported on gaming sites, including the official US PlayStation forums. The issues first appeared to be specific to 60GB launch units, but reports have since included 20GB launch and 60GB non-launch consoles.

A handful of Xbox 360 consoles have also allegedly locked up, but the problem doesn't seem as widespread as the PlayStation version.

Which, to be perfectly clear, appears to be negligible relative to how many copies have been sold in the last ten hours.

For the record, we personally haven't encountered a problem with Grand Theft Auto IV yet. Is anyone else suffering?

I'll have mine in the hour...stupid EB doesn't open until 10am.

Thanx for the news...I hope it doesn't happen on my PS3 when I get it. A few people had this problem before with other games, it's not really a big deal (considering that it was eventually fixed for them).

---------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: I searched it up on my gaming forums, and actually it's happening on both systems as far as freezing errors arebeing called. And the majority of them are due to the Collectors Edition of the game, not the regular edition which I have no idea if the disc has been written differently between the two editions.

Here is the offic' from Kotaku (gotta love Kotaku ),

Rumored GTA IV Problems: Wait, GTA IV Is Locking Up?

What's that you say? GTA IV's only been out for a few hours, and already the internet's decided that both the PS3 and 360 versions are broken? That's what many forums - as well as many of our readers - would have you believe, with reports of the game locking up during/following the game's first cutscene, an error so severe you apparently have to unplug your console at the wall. Shades of Bully on 360, perhaps? Maybe this is a problem, maybe it's a squeaky wheel getting a whole month's worth of grease at once, who knows. Not us. We're asking Rockstar. And until we hear back from them, you all should remain calm.

I got this last night and played it for about an hour, even though I had work this morning at half 9. Got to bed around half two, and I have done precisely nothing in the game yet except carjack some Russian dude that I proceeded to run over, park the car out front, and watch TV. Seriously, I spent most of the hour I was playing it watching TV in Roman's apartment. ******* hilarious. If the content of Liberty City's TV channels is anything to go by, this is truly the deepest game ever, and I can't wait until half five hits so that I can get home and play it properly.

PC

Do not worry my brother.

Inevitable GTA IV PC rumours kick off (again)
Tuesday 29-Apr-2008 10:50 AM German retailer takes a punt at November 30 release date

German retail has sparked mass excitement (again) for PC owners hoping to get their piece of the GTA IV action pie this year.

The game is yet to even be announced for the platform, but German site City Disc has penned a PC launch in for November 30, has (self-made?) box art, and appears even to be taking pre-orders.

Similar rumours cropped up in January, when reports cited French retailers as the source for a supposed October date for GTA IV on PC.

As we pointed out before, it took GTA III and its sequels around six to eight months to make the leap to the mouse and keyboard crowd, so a late 2008 release for PC would be in keeping with tradition.

We're currently awaiting word back from an inevitably busy Rockstar.

Easier to do when you haven't started playing it than once the ball is rolling!

Yeah. Turned story mode off at the moment, I want to explore! Got some advice if you want to save money, NEVER accept Roman's offer to go eat, it costs $100
