There's a thread here with more or less the same topic.

Laptop. Good because it's portable and I use in many locations. However, for when I'm just home I have external HDD, keyboard, mouse speakers and docking station. I'm going to get a monitor, as well. In effect, it will be similar to using a desktop at home, but then it has the added bonus of being portable when I need to use it elsewhere...

[Moved to Voting Booth]

Desktop computer.

My reasoning from a previous thread:

I'd only consider getting a laptop if I had to travel from Uni to home a lot but since I'm studying relatively near home, I think I'll hang on to my desktop.

Ps. Laptop screens are no-where big enough compared to desktops. Any attempts at trying to type large amounts of information is rendered futile for those of us with larger hands. [Ie. Me] and the in built mice are normally as impractical as a chocolate tea pot. By the time I've gotten the cursor to the desired location on the screen, I've worn a hole into the laptop about 2 inches deep and all that's left of my finger is a stump.

Otherwise... they're fine.

Promise.

I use my MBP on a 23" external display with wireless keyboard and mouse.

It's a desktop replacement most of the time, but portable when it needs to be. I win.

... but I can't vote.

When i'm at home i use a desktop, when i'm not i use my laptop - Can't do as much image editing and stuff on the laptop though, so i don't usually use it at home (my sisters keep it company though)
