Default Tips

Attacking: #1 You've got to hold possession. It's the key to breaking teams down and to keeping your player ratings up. Be patient, pass it around looking for spaces about to come open. Reverse the ball to the other side occasionally. Have to be patient and hold on to the ball. #2 Don't always sprint right away (especially in the box), take a step or two to get around defenders. #3 Get down the wings. Cross or a cross doesn't look open, give it back to a forward who can turn into the box himself or hold it up and call for a run into the box by a midfielder- this goes back to patience, especially around the box.
Defending: #1 Call for your 2nd defender a lot and practice this, how you help the 2nd defender or sometimes play the passing lane as he occupies the player. This also works to give you time to get back if you've been attacking and your out of position on defense. Call for 2nd defender a lot, but not so much that your whole defense gets out of position. #2 On the wireless control settings, adjust the "auto switching". I turned it down a little and it helped a lot.
I've got one other tip but I don't want everyone to know it so add me as a friend and I'll explain. Great game isn't it? Good luck!

The CPU passing is magnetic, they never miss a pass. I try to jam up the passing lanes as much as possible and in turn create a counter attack.
