i hope in the final version you have more options in taking a free kick.
and take control of the goalie similar to the ps2 version.

BUT glad to have broadcast angle back
+ the faces are very very much better. that´s great.

Needs fixing.

From kick off, you can run right up the middle, every time, and get a shot off. The two closest defenders let you through. Then all you have to do is beat the back four. Really cheesy. Please fix.

of course it,s easy to score as the demo is only set at semi-pro hopefully it,ll be a lot more difficult in world class mode or even pro but then against a human opponent it shouldn,t matter what level you play.

Agreed, Irvine. Unfortunately, there are way too many people that support it. Either because they employ it or because you can (I love this one), " Do it in real life ". Regardless of the ratio of success.

To me it's no different than playing people on Madden who do nothing but go for Hail Mary after Hail Mary. Is it their choice? Of course, but it's not in the true spirit of the game. At least from a sportsmanship standpoint.

honestly, the pace and how it plays makes it feel like i'm playing the 2006 World cup game. it doesn't feel anything like 2008. and i'm not a fan. the graphics look good. but not the water on the field.

One of the main criticisms of fifa was the cutback. So far what i've seen its still incredibly easy to pass back.

nah i can't be bothered with this game. I'd much prefer an incredible simulation game in FIFA 09.

This EURO game is just a faster paced, more responsive, easier version of FIFA 08.

I'll pass.

Another must have in 09 if not in Euro. Hand balls. Refs and linesmen, hand balls, # of players in walls, etc... Please EA, put the basics in.. with a name like FIFA it should have and adhere to the Laws of the Game. Please. Sort it out.

I am a massive fan of fifa08, put unfortunately I will not be purchasing uefa euro 2008 for my ps3.

The reason I liked fifa 08 so much was because it was so rewarding when you scored. This is because the slow gameplay allowed you to pick out the most accurate of passes and shots. However in Euro 2008, because players run so much faster, its gone the same way pro evo 08 has gone; not very good. I know its semi-pro but winning 6-0 on the euro 2008 demo is ridiculuous. You can literally walk past defenders.

The key is simple EA; Keep the gameplay slower!!! Although this means goals are harder to come by but that is what football's all about. I realised this when after played game after game on the euro 08 demo, I decided to give fifa 08 a chance because havent played it for a while. It was a hard-fought match vs fulham (on legend difficulty), and after i scored 2 late goals to win the match, I was so happy I actually puched the air with joy. and shouted at the top of my voice GET IN THERE!!!!!!!!!

Then it hit me. It may be frustrating with the lack of scoring that occurs on fifa 08 (due to the slow gameplay), but thats what makes it all the more rewarding. Euro 08 may give me the opportunity to score lots more goals but who cares, I'm keepin FIFA 08 for good!

The demo is always easier than the actual game. Not to mention, there's always world class difficulty. Don't judge the difficulty of the game by the demo.

And FIFA 08 really does not feel rewarding to me. All the lala with the lalalala AI and horrible responsiveness just annoys me so much by the time I score the goal I don't even care. Against the CPU, they just have these ridicolous advantadges over you. If they need a goal, they'll score it whether you try to stop them or not. And if the game decides I'm the winner beforehand then the CPU misses goals on purpose. Then the goals I score feel unrewarding because it just feels like the CPU is letting me score them. Online is just friggin child abuse where completely lalalala players can score goals on the best. However, Be A Pro 5v5 is great. Mainly because when controlling 1 player you don't have to deal with the AI.

Euro 08 fixes these so important problems. Responsiveness is much better. When you press pass, he passes. When you want to tackle, he tackles. The AI is not perfect, but slightly better. They make better runs and don't hide behind the opponent like in FIFA 08.

I do agree FIFA 08's slow game pace is better and would like to keep it in FIFA 09, but that does not make Euro 2008 a bad game!

Agreed, also the lack of basic football stuff, like options on free kicks/corners, being able to choose how many men in a wall and to be able to move the wall, in game strategyie more options player set ups to apply in real time, no refs no linesman, to many cut scenes, and weather that is not real wind has an affect when raining swirly gusts would be good to have an impact on corners or long balls etc.

You're complaining about stuff that isn't in FIFA 08 either, so I don't see how this proves your point that FIFA 08 > Euro 08?

Yep
This is why i would have expected that the game would have moved on a bit as promised by EA and at least incorporated one of these and i have posted in constructive criticism which this is

For everyone complaining about the cutback, It can be defended!!!! and its not that hard, sure i'll give you that eventually a striker will plow through you to get to the ball regardless but those are good odds. Any time someone comes running down the wing just hold L2 stay in front of his *** and block the ball for the cross, if he goes into the box, pull out your keeper and mark the man or play the pass. Its pretty simple. Still i conceded that EA shoulc and could make the AI repond alot better to the cutback and low crosses on its own.

You feel the same as me. Now that I can use the controls well, I love the game. I play on World Class and have some great games. And many are 3-2 affairs where the CPU has me so frustrated I want to toss my controller. Then I get a drive into the box and get a wild bounce of a defender and get that creeper into the bottom left and I just am loving it. I just wish that I could switch to entirely manual controls. I haven't gotten the shooting down yet, it's on Semi. But all the others are manual and I love it. To me this new meter is gonna kill it. I like that I have to guess to gauge the strength of the pass. Don't real players have to determine their touch under great pressure? And since the auto passing is broken and always seems to pick the exact wrong guy with the wrong touch, I trust myself much more. And don't get me to raving about the Pro Cam. I couldn't fathom buying this game if it isn't in the Tournament mode. I don't see how anyone could play with any other cam. It's so dynamic and immersive. Just because I watch football sideways doesn't mean that I want to play it sideways. It's funny. I watch the Champions League coverage and they were using some camera moves that reminded me of the Pro Cam. Oh well, Glad to hear that someone else loves 08 like I do. Hopefully 09 is an evolution of 08 that incorporates the good of UEFA while continuing to reach for the "sim" pinnacle.....

I don't like the graphics...really it's about PES laughable.

I don't like the 6% increase of speed...it's the ball that moves fast...not the players. In reall life sprints don't last continuously all game long.

The flow of the game is rediculously unreal...theres is no pause of play or speed up or build up...just robotic fast pace nonsense.

I don't like the ease of scoring...where's the AI?

The goal celebrations practically slows down the frame rate so bad...that I can't even imagine how online is going to be.

I'm very dissapointed...I thought we were heading in a great direction with FIFA09.

Did I mention the game looks like poo?

There is a lot of good things about this game. The aerial challenges are incredible compared to FIFA 08. Same with the responsiveness and the passing has improved.

And up until tonight I didn't really understand what everyone was complaining about with the ease of scoring. I guess I didn't try to exploit the game and played actual football so I didn't notice anything different than FIFA 08 in that aspect. But everything they said is true. I saw the comments about walking with the ball and beating defenders, so I gave it a try. If you don't use the sprint button you can literally walk by defenders by doing nothing more then changing direction. I even walked by a few defenders and they didn't even try to tackle me or run back to defend. It's actually easier to score if you don't even try. This really has me worried now, I know it's semi-pro but even on amateur difficulty you shouldn't be able to just walk by defenders.
