Freeze on PS2

Having completed Tiger Challenge and Rookie Tour, selected 1st day of 1st event on PGA Tour - everything freezes. Common problem? Known fixes?

Found the answer on www.forums.ea.com viz

Start a new character and do one PGA tour event with them. Automatically allows you to continue your other characters season after completing that event. Just another bad EA glitch, but luckily it was fixable.
