Default Spore runs, but nothing shows up

So I've ha Spore since it came out, played it off and on and it worked really well. But recently I've installed it on my computer again, and as soon as I double click on it's icon, the process RUNS in the task manager as SporeApp.exe, but nothing visually effects the screen. It's like a behind the scenes sorta thing.

I use Windows XP, tons of room left on my computer and I know for certain that I played this game before on my computer.

Can anyone help me out?

check your firewall, it sounds like the game is being blocked

Nup, definitely not my firewall. Turned AVG off and tried it, nothing.

Default No solution but exact same problem

I know this won't help you but I wanted to add that I have the same problem. I hadn't played for a while but the last time I did, all was fine. I installed Galactic Adventures and the creepy and cute pack and now my game won't start properly. The game runs but nothing shows on the screen and I have to end the process in task manager.
I have tried everything I can think of, I made sure Vista was updated and my video card drivers are up to date. I have DirectX 10 and my pc's specs are above the minimum. I ran a windows diagnostic memory test and all is fine there too. Originally, I was getting a log file in the Spore folders somewhere showing "Access violation reading 0x00000004" but I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it and now I don't seem to get a log.
I am really disappointed because I was near the end of the game and was taking on the Grox - now I can't even load up the game.

the reason no 1's helping is because no1 knows an answer lol, your game is def being blocked so try this, open task manager and shut down every process that can be shut down, open msconfig and stop every program in the startup tab from running at startup (ensure your offline during this test as your going to shut down any security software) now try Spore. if your unsure how to run msconfig let me know and i'll explain.
