My home planet belongs to another empire?

Recently, in all the new space stage that I play, my home system is shown as belonging the the first alien species i meet. I still have control over my system . The only annoying thing is that the alien empire line runs through my home system and if I destroy that empire, my home system still has the giant red bubble of a war zone. Is anyone else having similar problems? I'm using a macbook to play Spore.
