Default Saving Game Play ?

I'm about to reformat my pc but i would like to save my entire game play for Spore, backing up the Spore folder then replacing it after the reformat doesnt work, i reckon its because Spore game saves alter the registry so after a new OS install the registry wouldnt be altered by simply copying the original Spore folder back to the hard drive. Question is, I know i can back up my creations but has anyone yet figured out a 100% successful way of saving the entire game play in cases of emergency or do i have to lose all my planets etc ?

Perhaps not 100%, but back-up your Spore Data files, and your creation files.

thanks for your reply rebecca, i've already backed up my creations but not the data file, i know from past experiance that that wont work. i'll just reformat and lose my game, it wont take long to rebuild my civilisation.
