After uninstalling Spore a few months ago, i reinstalled it and have updated it to the third patch. For some reason, though, despite logging on and finding my planets still there, the creatures connected to them were not familiar. I checked the Spore-pedia and none of my creatures are there, when i specifically asked during the uninstallation for it to leave them. My Spore Creations is still in My Documents, with all the files in there. Is there a way i can tell Spore to find them here? Or something i can to do get these creatures and buildings, ships and the like, back to Spore?
As a side note, however, i have also installed the forth patch, but found the same problem, so uninstalled and patched to three, to see if it made the difference, which it didn't. -Elso |

Welcome to the forum
![]() Out of curiosity, how did you uninstall patch 4? Someone else wants to do so and doesn't know how. As for getting your creations back, I'm not sure. One of the other forum users may know how, as I know a several of them have lost creations in-game in the past. |

I think he means he uninstalled Spore complete then reinstalled and repatched to 3, i now dont believe that you can independantly remove a specific patch.
In response to the original question, it isnt possible to save a backup of your game saves for use when you reinstal Spore, i tried and like you i got my planets but none of my creatures/buildings/vehicles etc were associated to the planets so i just deleted that game and restarted lol |

Well firstly, thanks, Emma, i feel like i should have joined the forums earlier.
Secondly, yes, i did just entirely uninstall it and re-install, applying patch 3. And thirdly, i simply must ask, what in the hell is the point in offering to keep your saved data when it's uninstalling if it never shows up? I mean, with the planets and stuff, i can restart those, but all my creatures? I worked hard to get what i had, really put my heart and soul into my two main creatures, and it hurts me to think that the files are right there, yet the game seems to refuse to want to read them. |

I had this problem too - I did make a post but it seems to have been squished somewhat beneath other posts and so I haven't had a reply. After numerous problems getting GA to work, all my saves are smegged. Well, no, they're not - the info is still there, that is,the progress etc - I still have all the achievements and stuff, and my Omnipotent race are still Omnipotent, etc. But the species isn't matched to the save - when I move the cursor over the planet (indeed, any of my save-game planets) on the Galaxy screen (main menu, not Space Stage), it has a question mark in place of the creature icon. If I try to load that game, I get a random Maxis species there instead, rather than my own race (which is still in the Sporepedia). It's as though my creatures have become...detached from their saves, somehow.
I've seen this problem reported a few times here and there, but so far no apparent solution .And Emma is Limabifrost - look at her sig .

I didn't uninstall, but did various other things, deleting files and so on, to get my game to work after the wonderful patch/GA installation smegged it up (see the thread I started but have had no replies to so far). I'm having fun in the Quickplay/editor sections of GA atm, but should I decide I want to try and earn more badges on my "uber race" or mess around in...well...any of the others, really, I won't be able to.
Rather, technically I will, as the species progress has been saved. But I just get given some random crappy (crappy in the sense that it's not what it's supposed to be) species instead of my species. I don't want another race, I want the one I built up from the Cell Phase! They are there, in the Sporepedia...I just can't put them back into their saved game .

When I fancy playing "proper" Spore again, I think I'll just delete all those saves and start a new one. It's a shame as I wanted to keep the Machubi - the race I created in the cell Phase when I first started Spore and then evolved through to Omnipotence in the Space Stage and got to the Galactic Centre, but since it seems there is no way to sort this problem, I'm not letting some other random species take over their save! :P
Anyway, my time is currently being taken up with messing around in GA, so I'm sure that'll keep me busy for a while yet .
