New search function in patch 4 not working at all for me.

the new search features in patch 4 arent working, properly or at all, for me

supposedly you get ability to search ranks and dates, amongst other things, in the search online page.

i dont get any of that. just the normal blank text bar, a pop up menu selector for 'creatures' 'vehicles' and then the search button.

how do i check which version is installed?

checked on my second computer and its exactly the same there aswell.
no new search options.

reinstalled spore on both machines (v1.000 boxed,retail, galactic edition), repatched to patch 4, and it still doesnt work as intended (no new search options in the 'search online' section in the game - infact no new search options anywhere at all)

vista 32bit - sp2
core2duo e6600
nvidia 8800gt 186.18
x-fi - latest drivers.
directx reinstalled.

Maybe you should try uninstalling the patch and running it on patch 3?

well patch 3 is worse. that doesnt have these new search facilities either and isnt supposed to. im not going backwards.
the game still 'functions' but i dont get the new features of the patch. im not playing it until i see them appear because i then know that 1.04 is installed correctly - at the moment i dont know and im not investing many hours only to find a bad bug later because the patch didnt install correctly.

if you mean uninstall spore, reinstall and then install patch 1,2,3 and then 4 in order. already done that. still didnt work at all (in terms of work i mean none of these new 'ranks' 'featured' options in 'search online' appear.)

bought and installed galactic adventures.
the new search online screen is there now.

i guess patch 4 just doesnt include some things for people that dont have GA.
