Tribe==>Civilisation bug

Hello,
I'm on my second creature on hard difficulty, and once I've beaten Tribe era, once I click on the 'Historic' button to continue, a black screen appears, then the mouse appears, then I receive the error that Spore is not responding, so I cannot continue this creature.
Help please?

Unfortunately this happens alot with all the stages. All I can suggest is save where you're about to advance on tribe, and keep trying to proceed, or start again :-S
