Default Spore De-Authorization Tool

De-Authorization Tool

By running the de-deauthorization tool, a machine "slot" will be freed up on the online Product Authorization server and can then be re-used by another machine.

Yeah, so basically you can run spore on another computer. So if you have someone in your family who also likes to play they can play on another computer or summin, kinda handy

No, the tool allows you to "de-authorise" an install. Installations will still require online authentication.

Yes.
But I have a problem because I cannot play other games that are older because secure rom blocks them,so what help can EA give me? their technical support when I contacted them said"we cannot do anything about that and will not help you"I feel it is the responsibility of someone at EA to help me,so why wont they?

It wont. Have you changed your firewall settings to allow Spore access to the internet and opened the following TCP ports:

* 80
* 443
* 18120
* 18060

So how about a sensible response from EA.

Will there be deactivation programs for other EA games? If so, i might actually consider buying EA games again. By the way, why does SecuROM come with EA games you download off Steam? They are already bound to your account (the sensible alternative to DRMs), so forcing you to download extra malware seems a bit harsh!
Oh, and can EA please come up with a SecuROM removal tool? Instantly devalidating all EA games, no more risky manual removal! I don't want to have to delve into my system registery just yet.

Assuming you only used one activation it will restore that activation so your friend will have 5 again. However you would have to setup their personas and stuff so they can login in, that or you'd have to give them your EA account.

SecuROM comes bundled with Spore but is not owned by EA they have a license to use methinks so they wont help with that too much as it is not their software. However if you google " securom support " you will get links to the company that do own it and they will try to offer you some help with it. For me the first link on the first page goes straight to them. I cant link it for you as I have peer guardian2 running atm and my system wont access their site.

I had a similar problem with GTA4 for PC as rockstar also bundle securom with GTA4 but wont help with securom related probs but going straight to securoms own support pages got me a response even if that response basically boiled down to them saying tough luck buddy prove securom caused your DVD drive to disappear from your device manager and my computer area and we may help you with it.

If I were to uninstall Spore and then reinstall it on the same computer, would that count as using up another activation? If so (I don't really care otherwise, but somebody else might, so it's worth asking), could anything go wrong if I used the de-authorisation tool since I haven't used up all of the authorisations?

As long as you don't make any hardware changes then it should not use another activation when you re-install on the same PC.
