Default Patched, now game restarts comp!

Yesterday I got spore for my birthday, I played it for 6 hours straight and had no problems, today I patched it after I was advised to and when I'm playing civilisation phase, it comes up with a blue screen that has white writing on (which I don't have time to read) and then restarts my computer!

This is like, uberly sucky because I am dying to play it but can't! (it won't let me start a new game either, does the same thing!)

It also seems to be a common problem, does this mean there is no current solution and that my 21st birthday present is now useless or can I simply uninstall the patch or something?

Thanks in advance <333

The bluescreen will provide a hint to what the problem is. You can stop your PC rebooting by going to the control panel then system, then you want the advanced.

Under start up and recovery click settings then UNTICK the box next to automatically reboot, click ok.

The message and address (0x000000 code) will give you a hint to what the problem is, however if its only started doing it since the patch it might be worth trying to uninstall the game and then reinstalling and applying patch 3 again and see if it does it again.

I did as you said and this is what I got:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

0x00000050

0xE2C5C004, 0x00000001, 0xBA681D3, 0x00000001

I uninstalled and re-installed the game and now it won't even load at all. T___T

Does it list any kind of file names on the screen? .dll or .sys or files?

If not it could be anything from antivirus software conflicting to bad drivers to bad memory/hardware.

Microsoft Corporation

Even though it says windows 2000 the information is still relevant.

If you are using an intel graphics chipset then there are a few known BSOD errors do with with intel drivers. Theres already a topic about them on these boards by avshock.

There are ways to check for bad memory too with a program called memtest86 you can download it free but you need a cd burner, its might be a bit tricky to get it run but using it is simple enough you just need to leave it running for a few hours though.
