Creature Creator not being read

I'm waiting patiently to recieve my copy of Spore on the 24th (for my birthday) and decided to load the Creature Creator to my laptop to hook up to the community so long.

I inserted the disk, and the installation went fine, but then I was plagued with DirectX downloads to be able to run the game. After that, the Creator was nowhere to be found on my system and double clicking on the disk in My Computer doesn't do anything...

The Creator is a free trial, so maybe it expired?

It's not a matter of dire urgency to get the Creature Creator on my PC when I'm on the brink of getting the full game, I'm just worried that this is an indicator of future problems with the full game.

Please try and provide some help/insight to this problem.
