Default Spore has stopped working.

I installed the game and it is not showing up under "all programs" (I am using Vista)

When ever I click SporeApp.exe the screen goes black... works for a bit then back to desk top and I get the "spore not working" message.

I tried reinstalling 3 times... to no avail.

The only way around this was using a crack, and the game works like a dream (so please do not tell me my drivers are out of date or my computer sucks or I need to do magic rituals or whatever...).

Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions or is this some sort of bug from EA???

I would really like access to the online portion of the game (hell I paid $50 for the full enchilada not so I could a semi legal pirate version!)

Any help or ideas????

You'll need to set the app to run as administrator.

Uh yeah that doesn't work. Tried it as admin, as compatible XP, and as admin + comp.... nothing works. (except crack)

I have the same thing about "Not appearing under All Programs" but I have different errors. I have no clue why it doesn't show up under "All Programs". Seems really unprofessional.

On Vista, Spore doesn't appear in the All Programs list, it appears in the Games Explorer window.

As for it not working without a crack. I can only suggest contacting EA Support for advice.

The problem is being in Games Explorer doesn't mean it shouldn't be in All Programs, while EA/Maxis thinks GE's enough. GE is very helpful, but All Programs is all programs. All of your prrgrams are meant ot go there - its in the name. Really, all this has done is cause a lot of people worrying about broken installations. (and all the threads which mention it)

Also, it would be nice if every spore patch didn't delete the Games Explorer item every time. Its really annoying because if you create a shortcut to the Spore Games entry, it becomes invalid with every patch.

I'm sorry EA, but SecuROM on Spore has drove me to shun all of your non-maxis (and also possible non-crysis) games. Keep up the good work Maxis

Adding an extra folder in 'All Programs" is unnecessary; rather, the spore shortcut is installed in the games option in the start manue.
For windows vista, click start, and then games, and dubble click spore
for windows XP, click start, point games, and click spore from the list of games.
For windows vista with a 'classic start menu', click start, point to programs, point to games, click games explorer from the list of games, then dubble click games.
