I don't think this situation can go on much longer. EA/Maxis you need to DO SOMETHING!
I installed Spore on Friday morning without a hitch. "So far so good" I thought, so I started it up and what did I find? It worked! I played it all weekend (literally) and managed to get to the space stage with two critters. Not a single crash or black screen, Antialiasing works perfectly, and I can share all but the most complex creatures online without a hitch. So far I've had NO installation problems, NO DRM problems, NO crashes, NO graphical glitches, with all settings on max I might add, in fact, apart from the complexity bug (which I'm sure will be fixed in a patch) I have NOTHING TO MOAN ABOUT! Come on Maxis, sort it out, I need a game-breaking patch so I can have something to whine about on an internet forum. I paid good money for this and so far it has been worth every penny. (Just thought this forum should have at least one post from the "other side of the coin") Post in this thread if you've had no issues with Spore!

I really can't understand people like you. No one here has an issue with you having a working game. Great. You have a set of hardware that the game is working correctly on. Good for you.
Did you ever consider putting yourself in other people's shoes? For us, we have owned the game, purchased with our own money for multiple days now and haven't been able to run it yet, or are experiencing game crashing bugs. This is a problem with the software that needs to be fixed, and until it is, we will keep complaining about the problem. We paid good money and we deserve this support in return. So get off your high horse and put yourself in other peoples shoes for once. This is a technical support forum, not a forum to put your "happy" threads into. Leave this forum for people having technical support issues. We are not impressed by your sarcasm or degenerative comments. |

Lulz.
Mine worked perfectly too, up until just recently when I leave my home world after an attack without an allied spaceship with me. It's quite bizarre really; if I have lalalalalala with me, it lets me leave with no trouble at all, but if my allies get destroyed during the attack then as soon as I try and leave it crashes, giving me some incompatibility bull****. Also, anti-aliasing only works if you force it through through a third-party program, like nHancer. |

Well then you won't need to patch it will you.....moron.
![]() Don't get too cocky though because mine was perfectly fine up until the space stage and then my problems started, as is the case with a lot of people. If mine had remained working though I wouldnt have even come to the tech forum, so I don't even know why your posting here. Like cropper said, its where you post your problems not where you tell everyone how superior you are to the rest of us because it works. |

Since this isn't a request for technical support, I put it to you this thread is either movable to some other section, or deletable because it's pointless and obnoxious. |

rofl!! ive ever seen that before XD
anyway! EA! why the hell are you still marketing a half broken game?!?! i got 2 e-mails today advertising spore, there were no cautions for the game not properly working, nothing... They must be so close to the stage where there gona loose money now... yet they push on ahead... now i dont own a copy of spore yet..... but within an hour i may have it (as a present) so im gona be either very happy... or very lalalalaed off! (the sp was on purpose ^.^) because of all the problems people are having and the rating on amazon i havent got my hopes up, but the letters DRM dont exactly inspire confidence in consumers either! but i cant judge it till ive tried it. anyway thats just my opinion. i just cant see the point in marketing a bugged game that so many people are having a problem with (especially with no fix or no news/statement of one) |

However there are also serious issues many of us are experiencing that are not as a result of our own. Take heed to both sides before buying this game. There are serious bugs (probably related to the multitude of hardware/software combinations out there) affecting many of us. I hope you buy the game and it works flawlessly for you, I truly do. But if you find your having one of the issues many of us are having that are breaking the game for us, come join us in our protests. |

Personally not had a single problem apart from not enough hours in a day but I do know that many people are suffering with many different problem types from bad CRC checksums to flipped audio. and everything inbetween.

Hi
Its runs great on my desktop, but wont on my higher spec laptop. I was just happy,at first to be able to play, unlike many. Now very disappointed with the game. It's not what we were led to believe, very linier and more a RPG. I am,in fact, getting very bored playing it.Obviously aimed at the very casual gamer. COME ON EA get the game fixed and deliver the game that was promised!!! and ADD the multiple accounts also promised. |

They've spent the last 3 years removing things and simplifying things. Why did this take 5 years to make? Where is the game we were shown, that Will Wright was actually playing? I can only hope their plan has always been to gradually release this stuff in a set of expansions in order to make as much money from this thing as they can. While I don't blame them for doing this (they are a company whose sole goal is to make money and this is a sound business strategy), I will have to think long and hard before I decide I'm going to pay for any expansions because I, personally, do not like to be "milked". |

i agree, i found the video in 05 to be so much more, not realistic... but, better. the game seems to squashed up and just not long enough. and aswell as this it just seems like all of the freedoms we have been shown no longer exist.
i finally got the game, and i have no had a single problem... YET . and im just about to enter civilisation (on medium of corse cause easy aparently is too easy) the only thing i have found is it takes my laptop a while to load some of the creatures so i end up fighting something invisable. other than that i think its good, but i still agree with EA should do something about the mess they have made of spore. and the biggest letdown ive had so far personally was the creature phase, it had so much potential. but they watered it down and made it too liniar/repetative. aswell as that rather than adding the brain in the creator and being able to stick around and do your own thing for ages. its almost like forced evolution.. so that was a bit dissapointing. but meh. i took a huge risk in getting it and although it appears to work i still feel angry that so many people cant play it. i think its stupid that they go through 4 years?? of development hype it up so much and just ruin the most anticipated game for 3 years. i seem to recall in one of his videos (dont know what one) he said this is the next generation of gameing (or something close to that) im afraid i think although its something different... it doesnt fit into the next gen because of the mess they made of it. (just my opinion)saying that, does anyone know if EA has released any statement or comment on this yet? ![]() (sorry if it makes no sense im not exactly awake yet) |

IMHO logging onto a technical forum just to post that you don't have any technical problems is pathetic. Bit of an extereme analogy coming up... but why not pop down the local hospital instread and laud it up over all the terminally ill folks since you're healthy.

Don't really want to add to the mix but this is so pathetic on EA's part that I have to.
Firstly, in response to the original post, I have to wonder why (if your Spore gaming experience has been so fantastic) you are trawling the tech support forums of said game. I can't ever remember being so engrossed in a perfect game, that I thought I'd go off and see what problems other people were having with it... I've been playing video games since the Sinclair ZX-81 (1982) and I have never, ever purchased a game where I can't get past the main menu screen without it crashing). Quite incredible. Pathetic isn't a strong enough word to describe this situation. Frankly EA - if you can't be bothered to spend the money/time on betatesters for PC games you really should just give up and write purely for the console market (where you have the advantage of testing it on one machine knowing that, if it actually works, it will work on other machines). That way you might have a chance of releasing a game that actually loads. It's almost as if you WANT to hammer in the last nail of the coffin for the PC game market. Personally I'm giving up for about 6 months and then I might think about seeing if there's a patch released (instead of just being reminded by the website about how good the game SHOULD be) - but then again I might have just lost my desire for the game (and any other PC game from EA) altogether. Whoever changed EA's slogan from "Play the game" must have been a prophet ![]() Good luck to you all who are sticking with it - I hope you get to play it soon. ![]() The reason we're not getting any response is simply because they don't need to respond; EA already have our money. They can take their sweet time releasing a patch and they will incur very little in terms of loss. Reputation? Well that's already in been in tatters for years yet we still buy their games and they're still going strong. It's been proven to them time and time again that they don't need to waste money maintaining a PR department, so they don't. It really does make perfect sense when you think about it. Peace |

I am glad to hear that there are some of your that still can drag yourself away from the game to post on the forum with the game working well
Nice to hear that you are enjoying it.Those of you who are still experiencing issues and have not already done so, it could be worth reading the Tech FAQ at the top of this forum and also the Spore Technical Help Section at EA Support. If the information there does not help you get your game running well then please submit a ticket with the Support Centre outlining as much as you can and hopefully they will give you a hand also
