Would you prefer that EA support respond to every single one of the issues with a resolution irrespective of how ever long it took to resolve each individual issue, or would you prefer them to spend their time logging the faults, finding some commonality passing this info on to the developer who then come up with a patch that resolves the majority of the faults in one go.

It's just the former is a near impossibility while the latter is pretty much what every developer has done since the first faulty code was released.

Yeah it's a tech support forum, so go ahead and post your faults. I am sure those that can be resolved quickly and simply by either EA support or other users will be done so but don't automatically assume that because you haven't gotten a resolution to your specific issue within seconds of posting that everyone is ignoring you or doesn't care.

The guy may well be a troll but I think his post is poking fun at the folk who wander in with an issue, expect EA to personally answer them and only them, solve their issue instantly and when that doesn't happen they often wander off on two course of action

1). Droning on about legal issues, mis-representation, yada yada yada and a folk load of other rubbish they will never ever really follow through with.
2). Automatic assumption that everyone else in the world is having some sort of issue and that it is a result of shoddy coding, when the reality is they wouldn't know what shoddy coding was if it came up behind them hit them over the head with a cricket bat. Combine that with other pointless arguments about zero beta, zero testers and other stuff they have no real proof to back up their statement with.

Post your fault, hope some one can resolve it quickly. If it doesn't happen then accept that it has been read and logged by someone higher up. Don't go off on a rant about them stealing your cash, legal action, shoddy programming, lack of testing. Chances are the higher ups won't care about your rant and the reality is it doesn't expediate any potential resolutions. At least it didn't in the case of Oblivion, Bioshock, Stalker or Crysis.

I realize that few (if any) outright bugs in the game are going to be fixed within a single week of its release, so yeah people who are demanding that are being incredibly unreasonable, if understandable.

On the other hand, what little response anyone has received at all is basically the generic "Maybe you should check your specs/update your drivers/reboot/lower your graphics in order to deal with our gamebreaking errors" nonsense that they're copying and pasting around the forums, and it's bit ridiculous if not condescending at this point. I've seen no member of the team even come close to admitting that there might actually be a problem with the game when hundreds if not thousands of people are experiencing the exact same issues; nope, it's just our own computers and our own programs that need to be adjusted. Hell, it's practically an assumption or theory that anyone on the team is even working on a patch at this moment because, incredibly, no one at EA or Maxis to my knowledge have ever even confirmed that outright one way or another. The North American forums were flat-out down for three whole days!

It is, frankly, ridiculous. There's no other word for it. The days immediately following a game's release should be the time when customer support is the most interactive, not least.

I really resent how EA people comment on the most menial threads and ignore the tech support ones.

Also to the OP , I guess we wont hear from you then when you get far enough in the space phase to get hit by the zoom bug

I also didnt have any major problems until space phase and far into space phase so you are due a zoom bug soon. Also corporate bum licking doesnt get problems solved friend, look at the polls, 92% problems is unheard of so come of your idiot horse

Also its easy to be philisophical when your not the one with a buggy galactic edition spore or the one whos gotten far into the game only to reealise half the in game content causes crashes

And let's not forget that it's not a case of "fixing bugs within a week" or so. My guess is that the coders were pushed into releasing something early that EA were told wasn't ready yet. So this means they would have had all the time since the "final" build was released to the DVD-press. i.e. it takes ages between the code that was released to the DVD build and it actually hitting the shelves.

This is why that infamous Sin game had a patch a few days after release. They had already been working on the fixes while the CDs were being sent to shops etc.!

And if they weren't working on fixing Spore inbetween this time then I guess we have a worse problem than we 1st thought cos it means the coders have been waiting for us to be the beta testers for them...

If the traditional EA patch cycle is anything to go by the first patch wont hit until the end of september and will cause more problems for the people who where okay first time round not to mention break several things. See battlefield 2.

Aaaw you guys, it's not that I don't love you all but you've overfed me and now I feel all fat and bloated. Wasn't expecting an official reply though, that was pure gold!

Still, there's a patch out now so hopefully that's fixed some if not all of your issues. Unfortunately there was no mention that I could see of the complexity bug being fixed, so I guess I'll be shelving this game a little longer until that is done. Is there any word on that issue yet?
