Default spore freezing

i am running spore on a laptop and it runs great except for when any box pops up or you click on something and then the game freezes. if i control+alt+delete and then cancel and the game pops back up it's unfrozen until it happens again. any advice?

would be easier if you listed the OS and specs of the laptop. So you know, laptops arn't as powerful as desktops, in terms of running games. So you might experience slowdowns and freezes.

Check other threads, because your the third person to mention problems with a laptop in the last few hours.

Same problem here. If i have to hit Ctrl + Alt + Del one more time ill explode!

AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56
1.81GHz rated at 3.66GHz
Nvidia GeForce Go 7600
4.0GB RAM
Microsoft Vista Home Premium 32-Bit

After looking at the forums it seems a lot of people with this problem are running on mobile (laptop) graphics cards. These should really be better supported/work if they are supported, as more & more people buy laptops to replace their desktops. Unfortunately i dont have the room in my uni dorm for a desktop...should that really mean i cant experience Spore, a game ive been waiting years for?
EA are sitting on a gold mine here, it cant be that difficult to make some coding & optimisation tweaks and expand the hardware compatability, bearing in mind the company make millions of dollars of profit a year.

Are the freezes occurring randomly or is there a common time for it to freeze? is it mostly pop ups or clicking in editors for you guys? Any particular stages?

The PROBLEM is VISTA! VISTA SUCKS HORRIBLY. DO NOT GET IT IF YOU LIKE VIDEO GAMES. VISTA IS THE ANTI-GAME!

I managed to reduce the number of times it freezes by changing spore to run in XP service pack 2 mode and adjusting the resolution a little bit. It runs a little better but still will eventually freeze. So yea.. if you want to play spore, DELETE the lalalala out of VISTA , torch the disc, fire bill gates and install XP.

I am going to go install XP again. I was kidding about the deleting Vista.. you don't have to delete it, just install XP and use it instead.

Default Asus Laptop W7J series doesn't work

Duo 2 Core 2Ghz
GeForceGo 7400
Ram 1536MB
Vista Premium 32 bit

I am getting the same problem as everyone else with the freeze, the dumb thing is I actually use the EA test that my laptop worked before I bought it. Now it doesn't work I feel so ripped off..

I have a feeling its to do with integrated graphic cards on laptops, although the test software scans the computer specs that it meets the requirement its not looking into the type of graphic cards the system is using. I hope their is a solution...but from my experience normally the only way is to replace the graphics card...argh..so annoyed..

Default Help us EA!

I'm having really anoying issues too!

The game works perfectly fine and i'm very pleased with it. Cel stages works wonderful and as does the Creature Stage. However, once you've finished creature stage it tells u u can progress to the Tribal stage. So i click the button on the bottom right and then click the tick on the next screan. I make my final changes to my creature and click the tick button. The games freezes... no matter how long u leave it, nothing works! I did manage (somehow) to get it to start loading the tribal stage, I got to the screan where it says "You may experience..." and just as it's about to show some creatures, the game freezes and just sits there. The mouse has the "busy" icon and u can move it around, but that's not much fun when you've paid £40 for it!!

My laptop specifications are (taken from Window's review):

Windows Vista Home Premium
Service pack 1
Manufacturor: Dell
Model: Inspiron M1710
Rating: 4.7
Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU 2.33 GHz 2.33 GHz
RAM: 4.00GB
System Type: 32 Bit
Style: Laptop

Freezing happens to me only when in game, i doesn't matter what stage I'm in (it has happened in cell, creature, tribe, civ and space). I can get you process debugs (Inspector IIXII logs) if you wish.
Oh, I've forgot I'm running WXP SP3. so it's no limited to vista.

Same here, freezing happens at any level, at whichever duration I've been playing at, 70% of the time when I dare to save the game it will freeze, corrupt the save file and I need to reboot the PC (Ctrl - Alt - Del has never worked in this situation). I make a back-up of those few successful saves and then need to replace the corrupted files with those otherwise I'd have to start from scratch each time.

I reported it to EA customer services 4.5 days ago but they haven't bothered to respond.

Specs:
Operating System: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1022MB RAM
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT with 512MB RAM

Have you all tryed to play in windowed mode, I understand that this will fix this issue for many and if you make the window as large as it will go it will almost be the same size as full screen.
