Default Blue-Screen Of Death In Space Age

K, I'll cut to the chase.

Basically, after like, 2 hours in the space age, I'll try and zoom into a Solar System or Planet, and I'll get a blue-screen of death and a notice saying "Memory Dumping" before the system restarts itself and Windows pops up an error saying "Windows encountered a critical error". I've reported it to them.

It's been happening since I've gotten into the space age, and it annoys me how I've lost about 10 hours worth of gameplay accumulatively.

Now, I've updated my drivers, cleaned my OS, ensured it's not overheating etc, and it still happens.

From what I can tell, it's "Memory Dumping" because it's run out of RAM. I read a few hours ago about memory leaks in the Space age. Could this be it?

You aren't alone.

Next time do search the forum to see if anyone else is having the same problem. I suggest posting in one of the established threads and including what video card you're using and which driver set. There does seem to be issues with non-supported driver-card combinations.

Increase your RAM to 2GB or reduce spore texture memory cache to 512 in settings in game. try to check your virtual-ram as well

Can't physically increase my RAM, but I'll reduce the texture cache and see what happens

Default same problem...

I get the BSoD on all phases of game play so far. doesn't seem to matter if its 10 min or 10 hours, eventually... POOF! ...and I'm run'n on a pretty beefy machine (3ghz intel, 4gig ram, Nvidia 8800GTX 768mb, not overheating btw)

I think they just have a memory leak the size of a Mack truck.

Same kind of problem. It crashes either when I'm zooming in to a planet or when I'm terraforming. Both times involve loading up textures, so that might have something to do with it.

Dang that stinks. I got NVIDIA GeForce 7150M graphics card, 3gb of RAM and such. I hope I don't have that problem when I get Spore to work somehow. Why don't you guys try uninstalling it if it keeps doing that? Better safe than sorry.

Default Solution 2.0

I just had the exact same problem on my laptop just when i was about to give up... I had an epiphany. The Space Stage has insane memory dumps so if you own a sd card or a memory stick then plug it in and activate readyboost (right click your device> Proporties> Readyboost) then set it to however much you want it to take off (i have a 1gb SD Card and i use 700mb on readyboost and it works well... but the more you put on the better) and no more blue screen!

Default me too

vista
3 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8200
I get the BSoD any stage (including menu and creature creator) at any time.
It sucks so much because my mate has spore and his never crashes but mine stops responding, I get "Logon-security process failed" and it stops responding. Basically I paid for a disc that I can look at but not play because it will crash my computer.

right it depends what system your running if your using vista well done and you need a flash drive. Plug in a flash drive or sd card or something with expandable memory and turn on readyboost (in properties) basically it takes care of any memory dumps on your computer leaving cpu for mor important things... like spore if you have XP then you need to download the special one off the internet (sorry i'm not sure what it's called) it should do the job for you

hope this helps (HAT!)

*EDIT*

sorry that isn't the only way to fix it but it's what helped me so i sent it in :P

Im having a similar problem. I got galactic adventures the day after it came out. I installed it on friday (6/26/09), and the first time I played it was fine, but tons of times after, it will always get a bsod (blue screen of death) and if it doesn't it'll seize up for a few seconds, but then it fixes itself. It'll also seize up when i'm just playing SPORE in any stage, but not creators.

I do not have the creepy/cute pack installed, if that means anything.

I have the NVidia 7300 LE graphics card (with the latest drivers) with 2 gigs RAM, but I have not tested if that made it work. I run a Windows XP Media Center Edition PC. I think it might be that this game just uses too much memory. Is there any way to fix this, or is there any reliable way to get more RAM? Thanx.

PS: It'll also totally freeze up and crash in space stage sometimes, but it won't blue screen.

PPS: Last time I played was on 6/27/09 (before I got the video drivers updated). I was starting a mission I had played a night before, the robot chicken one called Readerdome, and when I tried to choose my captain, it turned to a black screen with my background showing a little in two squares, but then it blue screened.

Default 1.04 Patch Problem?

Now that I think about it, SPORE was only freezing up a bit until i got the 1.04 patch that was required for galactic adventures. Is that why the game crashes and blue screens? Is it a problem with the 1.04 Patch?
