Default "You may have multiple Spore accounts for each installation of the game"

...quoted from p62 of the manual.

Er.

How?

Nowhere else does it say how to do this and I'd really like to (in part to have more than 6 save games).

Any help appreciated, thanks.

I'm so glad you mentioned this quote. I've been trying to confirm if I can have multiple accounts. Thank you!

What this means is that you can log off your Spore account ie log out of your email address, and a friend/family member can log on to Spore using their own Spore account with their own Spore creatures/huts/vehicles.
So on my computer I have my own and the girlfriend has her own (although only one of us is having server issues hence why I was looking for this answer)

Re:6 save games. I don't know how to increase that. But why would you want to have more then 6 games running at once?

Which manual would that be? It's not on p62 of the Galactic Handbook, which is the only manual in the Galactic Edition. Are the manuals different for the different versions?

Sorry for not being clear, this is the English manual for the standard edition, bought in the UK.

Another one of the reasons I want more than one account is to have a persona for my cutesy critters, and one for my more monstrous ones.

Still can't figure out how to make it work though...

Try turning all your graphic settings to low in the spore game and start troubleshooting by turning them on in sets of two. Hopefully and eventually you will come across your prob. I was having a similar issue and acheived stability by turning shadows to low!

You can have more then 6 saves. Each time you start a new save (planet) another one apear on your galaxy screen.

When you click your acc name on the bottom of the screen you just press "log out" and it turns up this annoying message about functions not being there in Offline mode. Then you press log in and create a new acc.

I can't figure out how to make a second account. I've tried logging out to get that message but it just says "many of the features are not available offline, are you sure you wish to log out?". I log out, and thats its, I have no option to register. If I try to put it anything other than my original details is says invalid. So I can't find a way to do it

Bumping this. Seen it asked a few times. Is it working correctly or not? If we can have 6 separate saves then how?

Also sent this to gaming sites:-

Hi There, I have come across something I think your readers should be aware of.

I recently bought Spore, for both me and my wife, as both of us have Spore accounts and installed on both our machines. After setup, I logged in fine to the on-line features, then I tried it on my wife's machine.
We were greeted by a message that told us she was not able to have on-line privileges.
I contacted EA Support thinking the reason was due to the server troubles they have been having and got this reply:-

"Hello Ste,

Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I understand that your wife wishes to use a different account for SPORE™.

Unfortunately, code registration is restricted to 1 legitimate entitlement creation per code only. We apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience that this causes you.

Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future, please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (http://electronicarts.co.uk/support).

Thanks!

Anne

Now this wound me up as it was, the fact they had changed this from the Creature Creator which allows multiple accounts.
I then saw this on page 62 of the EU standard retail manual:-

"You may have multiple Spore accounts for each installation of the game"

Which according to EA support is a bare faced lie. I just thought others should be aware of what EA is pulling here, and this won't be the last they hear from me on the matter either.

I sounds like the call-centre drones can't tell the difference between "Spore accounts" and "Spore installation activations via the serial number".

Has anyone actually tried to see if you can login to Spore with a different email address?

If so, that's fantastic. My girlfriend can start her own.

I can confirm this in the Dutch GE manual, on page 92.

it reads:
"Je mag meerdere Spore-accounts hebben voor elke installatie van het spel."
Which means:
"You are allowed to have multiple Spore-accounts for every installation of the game."

So yea. Basicly having the same problem here. I can not have my partner play Spore to it's full potential, because he is unable to access the internet with it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but what it says on page 62 of the manual and what they say at EA are both correct, how so you say ?

Well read the phrase carefully - You may have multiple Spore accounts for each installation of the game.

Its just EA being clever with their wording, what theyre saying is you can play with multiple accounts on each pc (each installation) , and not as you first presume that you can have multiple accounts per copy purchased.

The feature to switch accounts works fine, you just have to have those multiple accounts ie by buying multiple licenses (copies) of the game.

Dont get me wrong Im not defending EA , just trying to save you guys some wasted time and money banging your head against the EA wall.

No, it says mulitple accounts per installation, which means with that CDKey, other wise it would just say Spore supports multiple accounts.

Is there a change e-mail button? Because I changed e-mail a while ago (after I bought creature creator) so my accounts e-mail needs to be changed. And I'm not buying a second copy just because they forgot to put a 'new account' button in.

@SteMot, just noticed your reply in here--you originally replied to one of my posts in the technical sticky post.
Has there been any feedback from the Senior staff as yet?

For those that wish to try and attempt making a second/third account and can't get to the correct screen follow these instructions

Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\[windows user name] \Application Data\Spore\Preferences\ then rename the file login.prop to "loginold.prop"

(Note: The 'Application Data' folder may be hidden, if so go to the Tools menu -> Folder Options -> View and tick 'Show hidden files and folders')

When you next start Spore you will get the window asking if you wish to register. Just go ahead and create your new account.

(You may want to go in to the Settings|Online and tick the "Prompt at start up" box.

Let us know if anyone can successfully create a new account? I've not been able to.

Well, Bluesnews.com have run the story on their site with an impartial view, but it still gets across why we are expecting to be able to use multiple accounts.

Default Same problem

Got the game a few days ago and are only able to use one account like everybody else. This is very bad. There are more persons in the family that want to be able to play the game.

It is also very strange that the game tells you that you can log out to change account but that never seam to work.

Interesting to se what happens when the USA wakes up this monday.
