My sons are the same, they want the online content and to share their creations.
Easy, soon as you give him his own account use a cheat, cheats disable achievements right?

Is that right? I hope not as my son decided to use a 1m sporebucks cheat [?] in his game (don't ask!, 1m spucks is hardly worthy of a cheat code?) ... although, thinking about it, i have gained the 50 hours achievement since then ?
Can't wait until the multi-spore accounts patch is released, although, by the time it is out my kids will no doubt have lost interest in Spore anyway.

It has been quite a while, wonder if it was all talk. Its probably the lowest priority they have. By the time it appears everyone would have give up.

Yeah my kids are still playing but want to share their creations still. at least now (since update i think) they are earning achievements even playing offline.

It would be nice to get an official answer on this from EA tho, so come on mods, please!

Based on my last response from an EA customer support rep (yesterday) regarding my complaint about this. If I want to have multiple usernames I need to buy another copy of the game.

I have referred to the post by MaxisLucy on 2 seperate occasions, to which it has been completely ignored. I have a feeling that maxis and EA stand on different ground on this one.

I will keep asking the same question about the MaxisLucy post until i get an response (although it takes 3 weeks for a response to a updated query)

Very poor - I hate EA

what gets me most about this i think, is the lack of options. Even buying another copy of the game wont help cos i wont be able to install it on the same machine (i dont have the luxury of multiple gaming machines).

Paying for another licence wont work as my installation will only work with one. what a ludicrous situation.
"hey id like to buy a new tv please"
"Sure, but you can only get YOUR set of channels on it, other family members will need their own TV to see other channels"
Every game i own allows each windows user different accounts, settings and saved games - my kids wont even play on my login anymore cos they want their own settings etc.

[removed for the sake of decency]

EA, please respond with an expected date of delivery of the promised fix for this issue.

regards

I'm betting it will be in November, why? Thats when EA have this new "expansion" planned (if you can call it that $20 for a handful of parts is more like robbery)

I have an answer and you're not going to like it!

I asked if the post by maxislucy was true to which I got this reply:

"Greetings David,
Thank you for writing to Electronic Arts.
This is to confirm that you cannot register more than one user name
(account) using one copy of the game. If multiple users wish to access
the online features of the game then their accounts must be registered
for the game with different registration codes and needs to purchase an
additional copy of the game for it.
Should you require any further assistance, please visit our support
knowledge base at www.support.ea.com for a quick reference.
Sincerely,
EARepCaine
Player Relations
Electronic Arts"

Sounds liek not only did they lie about the game before it was released, they have lied about allowing multiple accounts.

I will never buy any EA products again!

a response posted here (link) --> Answering your feedback about Spore Online Accounts

A quick update on this feature...

We have been working on a first pass at a solution for this problem and are currently testing it and fixing bugs and usability problems we've run into.

We are hoping to resolve the olalalalalaues and get this out in the next couple weeks along with documentation about how to use the new system.

Thank you for your patience. We're as eager to get this out as you are to have it.

Yes, I have this same problem, even though my stepdad registered his internet version easy, I'm stuck without it, and yet I'm on a completely diffrent computer and such, my stepdad offered that maybe he'll buy me my own copy, but after seeing this topic I'm close to not accepting, I'd rather crack the game (which has been done, simply google "Spore Grox hack") and find a way to enable online mode using the same validation key. After all this, EA deserves nothing but a good suing and exposion.

Also, the trick renaming "login.prop" to "loginold.prop" doesn't work for me, it fails to log me in as myself.

While Spore does have issues such as the 3 DRM install limit and from what i heard increased to 5 and the use of malware DRM which annoys me.

The 3 install limit wouldn't bother me if uninstalling add's a install back to your quota or if there was a option for clearing your install uses like itunes deauthorise option.

While me and my girlfriend both love playing spore and the fact that i cant have more than one account per cd key i can at least understand the idea behind that.

EA is a company which means profit ok it does annoy me that i have to have 2 copies of the game one for me and one for me girlfriend but EA is in for profit so for that i can let it slide. Another reason is because your online service is free and there are millions and possibly billions creations if there were to allow multipule accounts the amount would increase by a factor of allowed accounts linked to cd keys.

While this may change in the future i just wanna enjoy the game and have fun and i got Spore for me girfriend anyway as a birthday present.

remember people have fun

@Spartan

I can't begin to comprehend how you could believe such a thing as a valid excuse. Multiple profiles for a Cd-Key do not allow players to transcend time and/or space (and to bring their internet connections with them). I think even an EA rep threw that nonsense out as some sort of excuse.

Only one CD-Key authenticated game can connect to the internet at any given time. That is no more than one concurrent user. The only situation where this could allow for an imagined explosion of content is if other users where running Spore on another machine off-line and uploading once they connected, one at a time. Otherwise, each CD-key is only going to generate content at the rate of any single continuous user.

Also, the creature files are tiny so storage is a non-issue.
