Default Crashing when moving from planet to solar system

Basically, I get a mission to go and defend my home planet from invasion (yet again). I head there, clean up the mess, and right as I'm about to pull away from the planet the game crashes to desktop. I try this a few more times with exactly the same result.

I load up the game yet again, try moving from planet to solar system on a few different planets and it works fine, I head on over to my home planet to try it there again and still crashes.

This bug has cropped up twice before on a couple other seemingly random planets, both after extended amounts of playtime without any saves. With the current situation I have the game saved right before I'm about to enter the bugged planet.

To make things worse, I take a look at my creature creations after these crashes to notice I have far more creatures than I should have. Apparently after each cralalalala duplicates all of my creatures which are (I think) on the homeplanet. So I've got rows of identical creatures sharing the same creation time. After removing all of the clones and giving the buggy planet another attempt, the same thing happens again.

I have played the game for a considerable amount without any other random crashes, so I've only ever had crashes with the transition from planets to solar systems.

So I'm thinking maybe one of my creations are corrupt? And perhaps the duplications are a really poor attempt at fixing the problem, assuming they are closely linked with the crashes.

But that's just a guess, I don't really have a clue. Any suggestions?

Edit: Just realized I've been saying planets to galaxies instead of planets to solar systems. Whoops. :P

I almost have the same problem. Only with me it happens randomly at random planets. I can play for hours without a crash or only 5 mins. I'd be greatfull for any help or tips.

Okay so I ignore the raid and go and do a few other things for a short while. However, typical of enemy AI's "If the first 50 attacks haven't worked, the next one surely will!" behavior, its not long before they are attacking my home planet again.

Same as last time, clear out the bad guys, zoom out and crash. I've also got a bunch of relics stashed on the surface of my home planet (which I have tried picking up before moving off; makes no difference).

I've also got a new tiny bug: when I take a look at the history viewer, the creature icons for the tribal, civ and space age are just white boxes. So I'm guessing during my duplicate removals I accidently removed one of the originals that were "in use," rather than a clone.

At this point I'm considering clearing everything out and starting all over again. I would do a reinstall but... well, y'know.

Exact same thing here.

And I bet its giving DasmX86Dll.dll not found error. Which people also still have with the Creature Creator, so it's a known problem.

You can check that in the Exception Report in C:\Program Files\SPORE\Sporebin btw.

Ive got EXACTLY the same thing. It really is starting to annoy me!

I looked in the exception logs, and yes, pimpaliciously is correct, its that DasmX86Dll.dll thats causing the problem.

Ive also got a strange .dll that pops up when i start the game, but thats maybe because im on x64 vista

Come on EA! Release something stable!!!

Not sure if it's DasmX86DLL.dll, from what I've seen about it it seems to have been in every error report way back since the creature creator. But either way this problem is annoying and stopping paying customers from playing their game. EA needs to get on the case and fix this.

Same thing here. But random planets for me. Sometimes it happens after 5 minutes and sometimes after a couple of hours. I zoom out of a planet and crashes just as it's about to go to the solar view. Just happened 3 times in a row within 5 minutes of each other. So would mind a solution to this problem or an ETA when it's going to be resolved EA. Could a mod get an update on when this is going to be sorted out.

Just tried to get past this bug for the past ten minutes. Everything was going swimmingly. I'd just terraformed another planet right up, saved, then got the call from the homeworld. Waste the bad guys, try to get back to Galaxy. Bam. CTD. Every damn time.

So after all this fun investment of time, I've got a game saved right before a seemingly unavoidable game-stopping bug. Great. Patch needed ASAP, this is ridiculous.

Strange thing for me is that it doesn't seem to be crashing for me on just the homeworld. It crashes randomly, even when you're on a planet surface. Makes me paranoid having to save every 10 mins!

Also, it looks like its only the disk copies that are affected, the downloadable ones are fine. I may just 'download' my self a copy and then use my key to activate that copy... but isn't there a 3 activation limit?

I have the same problem, but from what I have gathered, it isn't to do with Entering/Leaving Planets, its to do with the combat system. Whenever you are on a planet in combat you have a chance to crash the game. With Hightened chances when you are Entering, Leaving and Bombarding Cities. This is why the game needs an Autosave...

That is actually very accurate.

I did crash a few times when i was bombing a poor civilization to dust

And im surprised they didn't include an autosave, you can imagine how annoyed i was when i was playing in space for a few hours and i got this bollox >.<

Same problem here. I think the description of the game crashing when you are in combat could be correct since I have a giant blue bird attacking one of my cities(or the bird is entirely frozen in place). The big bird keeps coming back, I think this scenario is bugged and perhaps linked to the planet--> galaxy CTD.

Any of you have a giant creature attacking one of your cities and have a CTD?

Same is happening to me, so far its always my home world and always on exiting the planet.

Updated my radeon drivers to 8.8 and I thought that had fixed it, but no a few mins ago boom again.

What with the frustrating frequency of assualts on my home world i'm getting close this last time I came close to biting through my keyboard. grrr

O/S was recently updated to xp home sp3, sent the automated crash report to ms.

I have a very similar issue but without the crash. Attempting to travel to space while in combat or shortly thereafter (I usually get it after re-spawn at another planet) doesn't work. I simply hit the hight sealing and the game continues with all my tools disabled (all tools are grayed out except the last one used).

Loads of people have this problem, and EA is doing very little about it.

We have made a petition to EA asking them to fix it ASAP, as its almost everyone (88% of the voters) having this problem, amongst MANY others.

The link is in my signature.

Okay guys, I've succesfully worked around the bug for now, mainly by -not going to my homeworld-. I don't know how long it'll work, but as is there doesn't seem to be much of an effect for ignoring any attacks on your homeworld. For anybody like me who -only- has the bug on their homeworld I'd suggest for now to just ignore all attacks and not even try going to the homeworld unless absolutely necesary, and when you must just hope you can somehow get lucky and go there once, do your thing, and get out without crashing.
I obviously don't know if we aren't missing some important feature by never going to our homeworld, of course, but at least it's a way to get a bit more play time out of things before they fix it. Let's try and get EA to hear our voice though! This needs to be fixed!

I've been having the same problem. I have a save game from just before it happens. Flying ot other planets is fine. I've completed a mission and gt called back home because of an attack of UFOs. I kill them all off and try to leave, my ship gets stuck in the atmosphere.
This is where I have something new to add, though it doesn't help much. Scrolling with the mouse wheel achieves nothing, I'm still stuck in the upper atmosphere with the laoding icon on the cursor. However, if I use the zoom keys on the keyboard [end, home, x, space] I can at least return to the planet. The game hasn't actually hung or frozen, it is unable to transition to the space stage. this would be extra helpful if we could at least save while on a planetary surface and allowing us to try a restart. What is the reasoning behind not letting us save while on a planet surface in the space stage?

After several attempts I abandoned my game and started a new one until such a time as this gets fixed.

I've found a workaround for that problem: it seems that if I sell some turrets/defenses (around 10 or so), I am able to lift off from planet again every time.

I was wondering if this is a particular case, or it's general. Guys, post if that solution works for others than me.

I'm getting the same problem, it wasn't so prolific at first, but now it's almost everytime i visit my homeworld or even sometimes a colony. It's really starting to P I S S me off! Sometimes it's a CTD, sometimes the game just hangs at the transition of leaving the planet to enter the solar system.

This is definitely a bug. My system can run absolutely anything at full whack without a glitch.
Specs: E6750 @ 3.2GHz, 4GB RAM, 2x HD4870 GFX, Vista x64.

I expect a patch soon EA! Better get it sorted!

Hmm that mixes very interestingly with what i found:

Spore runs flawlessly on my set up, as it should on a q6600 with 2gb ram and an 8800GT with fresh drivers. Until the space stage. I had never expirienced a single crash until defending my homeworld from attackers and then trying to leave, now it does it nine times out of ten (as i am only ever there to defend it). I've only had it crash leaving another world once and that was when i was trying t o wipe out a tribe so i could get me some lovely blue spice :P

So it seems to me that the longer i spend on a planet, the more likely i am to crash when leaving. It doesnt make any difference what settings i run the game on - all low or all at high or even by changing the graphics cache size. I've even tried running the game on just one processor as that trick has worked in other games (by setting affinity).

I've done some reading up around the net and it seems im not the only one with this problem but what i've found on it is far from providing a solution. Does anybody know of a solution to this problem? (And if found any EA employee should really sticky the solution)

- maybe some of its coincidence. I bought the game on the DVD and it works fine on a macbook 2.4ghz penryn with 2 gb ram and... AN INTEL X3100 =/ albeit on low settings. Seems like such a waste of my gaming machine!

I am having the same problem as OP,

This is a game crippling bug that I hope EA addresses, great job on the game EA. Although some people are being really rude and obnoxious explaining the problem, it is definitely an issue I hope is resolved. I sincerely hope the developers are looking at these posts. You can reply guys, we don't bite!

Well, most of us don't anyway. Even if we did we are not poisonous!

My issue is when ever I visit the home world and try to abduct a lot of things to terraform other planets, if I abduct too many things it CTD's at exiting the planet. But I never thought of that, spending too much time on a planet might actually be the issue. Perhaps there is a memory leak or some sort of issue. Here are my specs so the dev's know which hardware it does it with

CPU: AMD Atholon 64 2.26ghz, Venice core (Stock Speed, NOT overclocked)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro SLI, AMD socket 939

Ram: 1GB DDR1 400

Graphics Card: Geforce 7600 GS 512MB (Forceware Version 175.19)

Operating System: Windows XP x86, Service Pack 2

HDD: 40GB IDE (8gb free)

I know, I'm poor. Shut up.
