I will agree that the customer support sucks..
Have gotten the same errormessage.. And could not log on to the online content after I bought the game. BUT!! I managed to find a solution (to my problem at least). And it had to do with the Creature Editor... A friend bought the Creature Editor and installed this WITH a serial.. This serial got saved in the registry.. He had troubles registering spore when he bought it too.. We searched through the registry to find ANY indications to where the serial should be located, and so on. And we found two places. On my own computer i did however NOT have the creature editor purchased and installed.. And I only found one reference to the serial.. Anyway.. Enough rambling... We managed to solv the problem by changing BOTH keys in the registry to the key for spore itself.. And when I then tried to register. *ballabing!* FINALY! :-P The location of this other key is: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Electronic Arts\EA Core\Staging\eadm\eadm\online_content\spore_scc_ma in\ergc] @="********************" Where the *** is the serial.. If you dont have this in the register, just copy what is sais over, and paste this in a *.reg file. Run it, and the registry should be updated with this serial. Remember to replace the stars with your productkey :-P Im NOT sure this will work, and I don't take any responsibillities if it makes your problem worse... But hey.. Worth a go, isn't it? Please give feedback if anyone tries this... Blalalahis solved the problem with the error message: "The registration key used to install the game is not valid" or "The product key cannot be validated" NOT the "You do not have the proper spore.com privileges" Which i luckily have never seen Good Luck! ![]()

I do hope current developers think twice about working with EA. It appears that their current infrastructure is undoubtedtly inept and unfit for customer support.
With that said, I still lack 'spore.com privileges' after a week and a half of purchase, and after an e-mail with customer support who had to clarify my copy of SPORE was the MAC version. It seems their technical support arent aware that the game itself is printed and copied to a hybrid disc. |

I am back into spore after two weeks of trying
The cure is this phone tech support and give them a new email address to link your old account to they will send you an email and you must reply Delete this file: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\SPORE\Preferences\login.prop scroll down and login to the exsisting user login box using your new email account rember to use a new name not your old persona dont click on the login existing user at the top of the screen Good luck |

Some god-like mega nerd (not one of the EA staff!!!) managed to find the problem! do as follows:- ok all listen up: open the program terminal (under applications, in the utility folder)---type in cd /etc WITH the space between cd and /--- then type in 'sudo nano hosts' and enter your admin password (ur writing dusnt show up u just gotta type and press enter)---delete the 127.0.0.1 URL thingy (the whole line) by going down with the down arrow, then going across and deleting.---press ctrl+x to save, and it should ask you if you are sure---now press y for yes, then hit enter and quit the app. ABSOLUTE HERO!!! played game through...............its pretty good.................but then you complete it and never want to play it again much like any Civilization game. COMPLETE OVER HYPE. Not worth the stress i endured!! would have much rather me (and several other thousand people) had taken it back as that would have been the biggest slap to EA's smug little face. Once again EA are useless and i will vow never to buy from them again. three cheers for the god-like mega nerd whoever he is!! can i get some feedback from this if it works for you? p.s. make sure you've got an intel processor, that you meet all system requirement and please let me know if this works on macbooks. cheers. CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY OF YOU ARE lalalalaING AND MOANING. GO ROUND A FRIENDS HOUSE (who's copy is working) PLAY EACH STAGE FOR TEN MINUTES, THEN TAKE YOUR COPY BACK!!! wish i had!
Your all saying 'i'm going to return my copy if its not working for the second coming of jesus', trust me it wasn't worth having EA INSULTING your intellect by telling you, 'your the one with the prob, it your comp/internet/god not our childlike game' get your money back and put it towards another (none EA/maxis) game/flowers for g'friend/holiday fund/cheap hooker, anything! |

The funny thing in this is that the typo'ed email i've supplied, was a non existing one, and I actually had to create it a minute ago to be on the safe side. So, in case you made a similar mistake (and damn well you could), you need to hammer on the EA Support guys to check everything. My game is finally working as it should, woo! WHAT THE HECK IS THIS - we just paid 50.00 and now we are getting "EXCEPTION RAISED - UNHANDLED PAGE FAULT ON READ ACCESS - DO YOU WISH TO DEBUG UT?"
WHAT IS THIS ? We have a Macbook. we need a solution or someone to talk us through this !!! |

Time's up! Tomorrow Spore goes back to the shops and I never buy an EA game again. It's quite a big deal to me cos about 75% of the games on my hard drive are EA or Maxis. I can't believe the lalalala treatment I've had. So Piracy is a big problem? Try paying a day's wages for a game and not even being able to play a week on? We scratch their backs, they stab ours. I'm still no closer to even understanding the very nature of the issue the game has with reaching the Licensing server as the Techies have only sent me glib batch emails detailing very "Answer" sites. 32 out of 1237 people found these answers useful! Ever since a friend mentioned Will Wright's new game about 2 years ago, I have been intrigued with the concept of Spore. Every magazine I've seen with a Spore feature I've bought. And this is how it has ended. Will Wright, my Sims die tonight. |

I am starting to feel very lonely. Spore GE still won't log in for me. The problem is now 16 days old. I've made 3 calls to EA support. Sent 2 emails to EA support. Multiple posts here on the forum. And not one single useful piece of advice back from them. Nothing. Zip.
![]() I think EA support is a rouse to distract you from being annoyed and provide a glimmer of hope. But actually it's a nice fellow in Bangalore with no connection with EA at all, and even less chance to solve the problem. But very professionally met thank you very much! anyway, back to playing with my slide rule collection. |

On OS Mac, the fix proposed dont solve the issue:
still not authorized to have a connection the off lne works, I am lucky, ... After diff. trial, It's a issue to identify our registration in EA server, no issues on our computer That is my filling ... did you share it ? or do we have to investigate deeper in our OS (Win Vista MAC OSX ???? |
