Since plenty of people have no problems logging in, I'd say the servers are on. They just have... Issues

I could cry ...

SPORE says, I had already registered (CC),
but I can not login (Invalid Login).

Please solve this problem, it spoils my joy a lot!

This is typical of EA, constantly making promises and failing to deliver.

the server has been down for well over 24 hours.

They must be hitting the server with sticks, it doesn't take this long to fix server problems

That very much depends on what the problem is. Some server problems can take days to fix, even with lots of focus on them.

Actually, most server problems can be fixed very quickly. Unfortunately, that requires finding the actual problem first, and that can take a long time.

just adding another "invalid login" rant to the list. Galactic Edition off Spore bought, installed and playing offline due to a really fuzzy and blurry problem. did EA become CIA or FBI that you don't talk to playerbase when there's a problem? is that why you just basicly ignore the messages people send to Customer Services?

When people buy a game we expect to atleast be treated decently and not as another 55€ in the pocket.

edit: i logged into this forum with the same login needed for Spore i also use this for all my EA games no problem there ATM *knocks on wood*

can you atleast tell us if you expect the same kind off problems with Fifa09 and Red Alert3 so i atleast can wait untill it gets fixed before i buy??

that all depends on how experienced the techs are, if their monkey's with sticks then it can take a long time.

they should of shunted the traffic to their backup cluster while they troubleshoot the primary server cluster

Ditto for me, Galactic edition, UK, XP.

I've been playing offline for a while now, but its not as fun when the epics are all your own creature...

No it's a segmented EU release, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Finland and Australia get it on the forth the UK and indeed Denmark *officially* get it on the 5th. And the game does work, you just can't connect online, given that it's a singleplayer game and the online functionality is online to propagate user content I'd hardly say it doesn't work at worst I'd say it has diminished functionality. And given also that most of the user content will be giant phalluses I don't think you're missing out on a huge amount.

Is it me, or does it seem like most people with this problem have the Galactic Edition? Coincidence?

Sorry, you're wrong. Release date for Denmark is the 4th. The reason I know this, is that I live in Denmark, and it was released here today. I asked about it in the store yesterday, and he was quite adamant that he wouldn't sell it to me until today. How do you think I got it?

Since the online propagation of user content has been one of the main seeling points of the game, I'd say it doesn't work.

You obviously haven't been paying attention to the forum and the Sporepedia for the past couple of months. Sporn is dead. And I'd say I'm missing out on a great deal, if I can't have user content in my game.

I don't know why people look so surprised. Server crash was to be expected. No point in crying about it. At least we can be sure they're working on this, unlike some other problems

Because the server hasn't crashed. It just dislikes some people for some reason. Many are logging in without any problems. So the servers are up. They're just buggy.

There seems to be plenty of us who are having problems logging in but are we the majority or the minority at this point?

Well for one it's not like no store has broken a release date before, some even have agreements that they won't sell it before the other but still start selling it early. But you're right it did launch on the 4th for Denmark, I just didn't look, not being Danish frankly I couldn't care less when it was released there.

The key point being "one of" considering the procedural generation of just about everything, the fact that they've made the extremely hard process of modelling and texturing a creature a walk in the park, the entire ecosystem and scaling of the game doesn't come into it at all? These much more impressive feats of technology and gaming design are worth squat if you can't automatically download creatures for a day or two or however long it'll take to solve the problem, ignoring the fact that you can still easily manually download the creatures you want for now.

I have and it's not dead, the creatures are still there and they could still appear in your game. And as I said above you can download the creatures manually still, that's what I've done for now, spent fifteen minutes looking around for ones I like, got about 70 odd creatures plus however many I had from the weeks following the release of the CC I just think you're nit picking.

Yes they've dropped the ball on the servers, but they've damn well hit the mark on everything else, would you rather a minor bug like the lack of content propagation, or the kind of bug that makes the game unplayable eh? And servers are damned well expensive and it isn't really reasonable to have them have enough severs running to handle the launch rush when within two weeks the loads will be a tiny fraction of what they were at release, I'd say most of the errors are it rejecting connections to balance the load and stop them from exploding.

Why is everything at EA has to be so damn difficult. Can't you take some examples from Blizzard? Respect your customers, don't sell buggy products. Show just a little service. Just because we don't pay you monthly fees, you don't have to ignore us.

Every damn game I bought from you was NEVER just smooth like: install, patch, play. Nope - if you won't end up installing the game for few hours, you gonna end up with some ridiculous bug that prevents you from the next step. Memory leaks, crappy interface, ridiculous account creation system, EA Download Manager does not work on Vista 64 because Flash Player is not supported on IE64, lack of support, server problems, a pure HELL when setting up controls in BF2. Seriously - have some focus and make some few very good games in stead of make 100 in a year, overhype them and sell them unplayable. You should really compensate this to us in some way, or you are going down soon, because no one will buy your games. Learn from Blizzard.

Fix your lalalala!

Agree with aleq, same experience here.
EVERY SINGLE EA game i have EVER bought, with online capabilities or online activation, ALWAYS ****s up.. Always, im not exaggerating!

Not a single game works on release date from EA, and due to EA being such a huge company in the PC game industry, this is the main reason i have been almost exclusively playing on my 360 lately.

There you buy a game, put the dvd in, and play. Period!
You play it the second you get it on release day, or before! It doesnt matter if it is 3 days before the release date, it works. Online works, the online dedicated game servers are up and works, everything works.

EA pc games = fail. Please, please fire your entire online tech / server engineer staff, and hire new guys. Or please treat your employees better. Do something, because this aint normal, no other company has had this many issues and problems with online content in games.

Ive been playing games for 12 years, so when i say that no other company has given me that much trouble, i say it because its the truth, not because its "cool to hate EA".
People hate EA, because of the fact that **** like this ALWAYS happens, it never ends..
