No, it's not. It does not matter to your game at all, if your creations are not uploaded in real-time. What matters is that your game isn't pollinated with content from the internet. So you're stuck with playing with the stock Maxis content.

You do know that you can manually download custom creatures from the sporepedia dont you?
all you do (When its back up that is) right click on the image in the sporepedia and select save picture as and save it. Then run spore and put it into windowed mode and get an editor up (Any one will do) and drag and drop the file you saved into the editor and then they will be saved and will appear in the game as enemies. Hope that is of some relief at this time - I too cannot log in and I have windows xp and the standard edition. Thanks to the guy from EA who has been posting short updates - it has been appreciated and the game is still great even without the online content. |

I'm not saying people should play the game in offline mode forever. All I was suggesting was people could play the game in offline mode for the time being until the issue is resolved. If I had the chance and wasn't at work I know I'd rather be kicking lalalalala and building ships in Spore then sat here reading the same ol same ol |

I very rarely buy PC games... the exception being WoW
But my ex showed me trailers for this game, and I fell in love with it. I remember many times him playing Sims and having problems with EA servers being down and when he tried to play, because he bought online, he couldn't play. The moral of this story... EA hang your heads in shame. I don't care if the game isn't effected that much by the online functions not being available... I paid for a game, of which part of the appeal is to share content online. I can't do it. To add injury to insult, I phone the EA helpline, after being given the "oh, I am vague, let me take all your personal details first and error message" rubbish, and spending 10 minutes on the phone, I am instantly told "yes, we have a problem with our servers". No s**t Sherlock... I work in IT, I could have told you that, what you doing about fixing it... "oh, try in a couple of hours". JOKE... complete JOKE EA. Today, I spent £90 on two copies of this game... and I am not a happy bunny... I suggest the guys from EA pull out all the stops, and work all night if you have to to fix these issues... no excuses... you've got the money, now give us the game we paid for. |

After we created the whole content we must solve also this problem? It seems that EA waits til we have found the solution for this problem...IN future all companys must do nothing exept marketing..the rest is done by the customers which paid for^^ Sorry EA but i fell into sarcasm now

People ant updates, but you know what the first three hundred half-hourly updates are going to be right? "Running diagnostics on server", "debugging code", "still debugging code", "analysing server logs", "still analysing server logs", "setting up test environment". Do you have any idea how long and tedious bug testing is? Especially in a game that has millions of lines of code, god knows what kind of server set up, and loads of security validation. They could post updates, but people will still moan, most of the updates would be "looking into it" they'll give us an update when there's something to tell simple as.

I think...(I don't know too much about computers and stuff) that the mainainence is probably what's made this whole thing happen...they may be trying to login to the eu servers (which is also down for maintainence), so the game doesn't know what to do and says you need stuff, or you have an invalid key or something along those lines...did this happen to people before they brought the servers down?

But what do you pick? There’s a good chance what you pick would unbalance the world and would not be seen until the space age. Not including the creature I was only 4 of the things i downloaded appeared and 2 of them were epics.

So how come I can still log in, yet on the same machine my wife cannot? Surely if that was the problem no-one would be able to log in. Then again, if EA have changed the Securom from CC to only allow one username per CDKey, then I'm waiting for nothing anyway. |
