I don't believe it would be a cd key range due to the mixed locations of those having problems.

no no I meant CD Key range, not IP range.

Example: my game CD Key is 555-555-555-100.
Peter, who lives wherever has 555-555-555-201 as his CD key. His game can't login either.
But Jason, who's CD key is 555-555-555-945 can login with no problems. So perhaps there is a problem with all CD keys between the 555-555-555-000 / 555-555-555-900 range. If you understand what I mean.

Add another UK Galactic Edition user to the Mix!

Let's hope it gets sorted ASAP. Even though I've created over 100 creatures. I wanna see 150ft Chair Creatures, Grandads in wheelchairs, and giant packs of Sniper rifles littering my planets!

Same as everyone else by the looks of it.

UK Galactic edition, say's it's an invalid code to start with, then say's I can't link to my spore.com privileges.

EA strikes again!

Thanks for trying to help us EAUK_Omni, now I talked with the Hungarian EA support team, and they are having these problems with Spore in their own office, try to contact them, they told me they tried to contact EA main office but got no answers yet, but they told me they can reproduce the error. Their number (the one I called is) Phone: 061-505-95-50 (hungarian phone) their mail is Email: termektamogatas@ea.com (these data taken from the hungarian EA pages) Maybe they can help you reproduce the problem.

Had "An unknown error has occurred" 'till yesterday, now I get the "Registration key cannot be validated" or somesuch message. Belgium (Dutch language) Galactic Edition, Vista 64bit.

Paid a lot of money for this and righteously attacked people who said they'd download it when they heard about the heavy security in this game. Would rather enjoy it if I could play the darn thing like it was supposed to and not look like a complete tool, thank you very much.

Could it be that it is trying to authenticate against the Creature Creator CD Key which was still in my registry?

I have even tried a full uninstall and a reinstall and found that the CD-Key for the CC was still in registry. I tried deleting the key, same errors, i put the registry keys back in... same errors, tried changing the value of the key to match the CD Key that came with my Spore Galactic Edition, same errors. But i found funilly enough that the CD-Key that came with spore was not anywhere in the regsitry.

Could the problem be caused by us having the Creature Creator installed when we install Spore, the uninstall of CC not taking place correctly during the install of Spore, and this causing some form of mix up of CD Keys? Maybe ea/maxis need to quickly patch us something that will put the correct CD Key into the correct registry key and delete all the old CC registry keys (even though i have tried deleting the reg keys of the Creature creator myself, i'm guessing with the CD-Key nowehere in the registry for the actual game its unable to validate)????

Hope that helps to some end.

Izub it is an interesting theory but on my machine Creature creator was never installed. I used it on my laptop only, and yet the same error.

To think I took the day off work for this bull. I resent being told that the key for a game I paid good money for is invalid.

bugger... and i thought i was onto something... maybe, it is that its not putting the CD-Key into registry at all and therefore cannot authenticate against it?

Nice theory... seems to make more sense.

Question for Omni... If the fix is found to be something to do with the game code, are EA going to make this a public executable? Cos if we can't log-in to get a patch using the EA downloader, then we're going to need it available anywhere and everywhere.

Just to add my chime to the chorus:

I'm in the UK. I used the creature creator with my account, which worked just fine. I pre-orded a digital download version from the EA store, which preloaded and installed without hitch. But now I can't log in. Every attempt yields varying versions of the full range of error messages already reported here: "invalid code", "insufficient spore.com privileges", etc, etc. I can log in fine with my EA account everywhere else; obviously it works here, as I'm posting this post with it, but it also works on the US spore website with no complaint. It always worked on the EU Spore site too, but I can't try that one right now as it's "down for maintenance", possibly related to the current issue everyone is having.

I'm not so sure about the CD-key theory; presumably we do have a key of some kind, but those of us with digital downloaded versions have obviously never seen them or would have access to them if we needed it.

Nice thinking...BUT...
You and other people, CAN login with the CC. So said CD key works and allows you to login. So even if "Spore" the game ties the CC CD Key to your actual game it should still work , since said CD key has allready been validated in the first place.

Not only that, why would there be a conflict since you are required to enter a new key anyways? ( For non downloaded versions anyways).
Downloaded versions from EA store have a unique coded in CD key aswell.

And if what I just stated isn't correct, well... I personally do not nor never did have the CC installed, so it can't be a conflict with JUST that.

I hope it is made public as my EA download manager doesn't work either, it says I need to install a flash plugin which I keep doing but it still says I need the plugin. *Sigh* But thats a problem for a different thread. I really do hate EA's online service. Valve has got it right with steam and the have like a tenth of the staff EA has.

The CD-Key ahs been validated against the isntall of the CC not the full product, it would be foolish allow the same key to validate against the full product as you could then get away with purchasing the full product to play the game and use your £5/$10 key to play.

--------

anyway Mr EA rep man... anymore news on a resolution? please say they have a fix, or have atleast been able to replicate the issue and are working on one?

Did anything change for you guys? When I start up Spore now I get prompted to log in only; the option to register has vanished? Also, cancel is gone...I only see a 'play offline' button now, and no way to try and register a new spore name!

(logging in still doesnt work either)
