I tried to install it, it downloaded right but then my computer crashed. It always asks me to download and when it's downloaded... nothing happens! Damn! I NEED assymetry!

well i havn't played spore for well over a few months now cos i'm still waiting for patch 10:

colonies now produce money at regular intervals so larger empires become richer, just like they would in any other game!

I've figured it out
Hold down A then select and move/scroll the object for assymetry

I have the EA download manager but it wont promt a download... I really want this patch but I cant get it with the EADM can someone help me please.

CyberNOVA, are you trying to get a promt by going and opening the EADM? Because if you are you should go to spore, and it will promt you through the actual game

unless thats what you meant.....

it does work, or at least for most people it works.

some people appear to be having trouble downloading/installing it, but that's a problem with EADM not the patch

It says that the data directory is missing/corrupt and that the configuration script failed and i can't play the game after i install patch 5. Can I get some help???? Also how can i back up my save files???

that's if you have patch 4.

Go into the creature editor, put a pair of arms on your creature, then press "A" and grab and move one arm.

If the other arm does not move, you have patch 5

If the other arm moves, then log in and see if it tries to patch. If not, try reinstalling EADM (not spore, EADM) or look on the internet.

When apple stop being so hypersensetive and allow them to distribute it. Seeing as it's not an iPhone app, that will be in a long time.

If they were then it would already be released! Apple have a very long and rigorous screening process for all software, including patches, to make sure it will work on Macs and be compatible with other programs, etc.

Coding for a Mac isn't insanely different or more difficult than PCs, or more expensive or time-consuming. It's simply that every product has to get Apple's permission to be published, in the form of a software code. This allows apple to make sure they choose what is released on Mac, so only programs that will interact with other approved Mac programs are allowed.

It's like with Console games, if you get a beta version of a game, a pre-release version, then you will find it doesn't work on your console, only on special development consoles sent to developers. This is because on publishing a special code is added to certify that it is a fully published game.

The patch exists on Mac (hell, it's a patch for the game, not the computer, it's data changes are near identical to the PC patch) It just needs to be certified for publishing.

Also macs barely have any viruses because its so hard to write viruses for it.

Nope, because no one bothers. Writing a virus for Mac is no harder than writing a virus for PC, however viruses are not intended solely for destroying computers (despite what you think) but to take control of machines as platforms for other forms of malicious activity.

Stealing bank details, forwarding spam, macs are of little use for these activities as the Mac market is much smaller; fewer people have macs, there are fewer rewards.

Very few viruses are written just for kicks, and of those even fewer actually infect many machines. That's the only sort of virus you here about on macs; the "professionals" don't bother.

The patch will be out for Macs when apple validate the license, which depends on how efficient they're feeling. don't expect it too soon though.

bought spore for my son installed the game and was asked to run a ea downloader, installed downloader ran the game it installed a patch now the game stops after around 5 minutes.

is this a common thing as EA are a well known publiser of games ?
or have i missed something in the instalation of the game any help would be a help
