How many parts did they remove from the parts pack to make another parts pack nearer Christmas?

Its pretty clear that most of this content was intended for the initial release of the game, but they decided to remove it and sell it seperately to make more money, rather than making a good game.

The gameplay changes stated here are only a small way to making the game what it should have been.

I really like Spore and it was worth the 50€ I paid for it. In my Opinion there aren't hardly any real bugs, just a few things that need to be optimised
Of course new parts, animation etc. are great and I look forward to buying this expansion.
But - as I said - It was really worth to me the 50€, but thats pretty much and I would be really disappointed if the expansion were expensive...

I will not be buying either one at release time I shall wait till you can get both in one pack for £10. Sadly I have milk fever so EA have lucked out on me being one of their cash cows. And if the general feedback on the expansion and the add on parts pack is negative Then I will not be paying for it at all though I expect to still enjoy it thanks to the wonders of modern technology.

sounds pretty good, i just hope we don't get ripped off with the parts and acctually get all the parts and not like 2 parts and 98 textures....

yeah i guess and i also just saw on the US spore site that it has: 24 new animations, 48 new paint options and 60 new parts.....so i'm happy!

Would that be automatic animations? Shame it wasn't poses and stuff but can't have it all I guess

tbh id rather thay fixed all the bugs in spore before thay start to add more stuff that will bring new bugs to the game.

bring back the good old days when games you bought all worked and the cracked ones crashed all the time.

though i am looking forward to then new packs.

i still crash and burn in space and its so spoiling the game. but hay atleast i can spend time wasting making new creatures rather then play the game.

Hmmmm I want to get any expansion packs that come out but with the DRM it could get very expensive to replace everything once the 3 activations have been used. For that reason alone I'll give them a miss.

Spotted it available for pre-order for £7.99 - I think the RRP is £9.99. Due for release on the 21st November.

Replace everything ? You mean contact EA and ask them for new activations ?

Surely you dont think you have to go out and buy new discs when your activations run out. If you do then you think wrong happily, you just need to contact EA and request a new cd key afaik and they send you one via email and it has 3 new activations with it.

Ahh, if this is the case then I'll buy them. I was under the impression that when you use the 3 activations that's the end of it without buying it all over again. Thanks for that

I must say, this is quite dissapointing. I was expecting this kind of thing to be patched in; if it costs more than around $10 (absolute maximum) then mass piracy will occur.

I don't know if anyone was has asked this but the major plus point of spore is the ability to share creations and add them to your game. How is this expansion pack going to work with this?

i think people who got the creature creator from ea but bought the game elsewhere should get the pack via ea for free.

Bug fixes are created by programmers.

Parts are created by artists, as are animations and painting scripts.

The creation of part packs will be having zero impact on their bug fixing schedule, if they said they would be releasing the expansion next month I’d worry but part packs won’t be using the same team members as the bug fixes.

As to the idea they could not have developed a lot of new parts and animations between when the game went gold (the end of August and the start of November) of course they could have developed most of these parts animations and paint scripts in this time.

They have already created the engine & tools that’s the hard part, getting artists to create new parts, animations & paint scripts using the tools takes much less time.

Still I would guess some of the parts / animations where at least on the drawing board before release, but probably not ready for release others would have been developed since

They could introduce another feature to it called "My creature died because it wasn't pretty/scary enough"

... seriously, it is pretty pointless... since the last time you really see your creature is in the creature phase... after that if you "dress" it up with those crappy tribal gadgets (especially masks) you don't ever see em again... I'd rather they added more gameplay options...

As for the price... I won't pay more than 10 sporebucks...
