Default Will Wright in London on September 3

Come see the creative genius behind Spore when he visits the Apple store on Regent Street and hmv on Oxford Street next week!

Will Wright will be performing a short Q&A session then signing sleeves at 12.30pm on Wednesday 3 September at hmv*, 150 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1DJ

He will then be giving a demo of the game at the Apple store on Regent Street at 3pm and signing more sleeves.

Come on down if you can!

**hmv event will be wristbanded to 200 fans. Fans can pick up free wristbands at hmv which allow them access to the event. Wristbands will be available only from hmv 150 Oxford Street from 9.00am on Wednesday 3 September on the day of the event onwards. One wristband per customer maximum, in person only, while stocks last, subject to availability, at participating store only. Due to the whimsical nature of the entertainment industry, events are subject to change without notice.

*Buy the game and bring back your signed sleeve to the 150 Oxford Street hmv store from 5 September, when the game is released, and receive an exclusive free Spore t-shirt, while stocks last, subject to availability.

Will he be anywhere else? Like Newcastle, because I really do not have the money to travel down by train & pay accommodation...

Hmm... I wonder if any of us "not buying due to SecuROM" lot can get in and ask him directly how he feels about losing customers due to SecuROM. Anyone live close enough to give it a go?

I work in Holborn, but sure as hell won't beable to goto either of those.
9am to get a wristband to get in at lunch -.-

Sounds like the only people who can goto this are students or unemployed.

Well maxis isn't the ones who put secuROM on the game, so it would be pointless asking them and its obvious that probably isn't too happy about it as it will knock sales. I would like to say again it isn't fair on maxis not to buy the game because of secuROM.

Can you please stop bringing up secuROM pester EA about, they are responsible for it!

I would so love to do that! Sounds great, I would definitely stand in line for one of those wristbands. I have enormous respect for Will Wright, not simply because he is developing this game but due to his past history. I admire the fact that Spore is the vision of one man and his colleagues, rather than another statistically proven action flick. (and I love FPS!) I am tempted, but doubt I could go.

Oh yes... and can the people who are not buying Spore, stop posting in every thread about SecuROM. It is getting old, and starting to become a bit harassing toward the people here who are buying Spore. Seriously, you already established you are not buying it and we know why, now let the rest of us enjoy the Spore forum for what it was intended. To discuss -various- topics of Spore.

Of course it isn't fair to Maxis, that is kinda my point. I am a huge Will Wright fan, and greatly respect the man, but I am not the one creating a situation which is unfair for all involved. I would like to see what his opinion on the matter is, and see if he is even aware of the issue. Obviously, I do not doubt that he knows SecuROM is on there, and probably knows that there have been some complaints, but I would like to know if he is aware of the strength of feeling that some people are expressing on this issue. Unfortunately, I live hundreds of miles away from this store, so I cannot go myself - that is why I asked if anyone else who shares my distrust of SecuROM was able to go.

No, I can't. This is, though, the first time it has been brought up, by me, in any thread not directly related to SecuROM, but I still hold that my post was relavent and on-topic. Also, I am pestering EA about it, this is after all an EA forum, read by EA staff.

Hi I'm really interested in going to the event, do the lovely people at EA know if HMV are giving out sleeves to the people with wristbands, and if I was to take a different Will Wright game with me, would he happily sign that too?

I phoned HMV, they asay you buy the game on the 3rd, get part of the packaging, get that signed, then take it back on the 5th for the actual game + t-shirt.

Okay, I really wanna get my copy signed, but, as Simburgur said you buy the game on the 3rd; I ordered mine from GAME, does it make any difference? Tell me quick so I can cancel or not.

Thanks

This has been answered in the SPORE GAME Discussion forum. Although I'm getting the GE from GAME, I'm still gonna go along to the Q&A at HMV and the demo at Apple.

Another question: Will I need a wristband to go along to HMV on the 3rd to listen to the Q&A or is the wristband just so I can ask questions?

Well from previous hmv events I've been to, the wristband will let you get an item signed, but with the Q&A if you don't have a wristband you won't be near the stage, and you may have to be quite far away, so you might not be able to hear it.

Ok. Thanks for the info, time to set up camp outside HMV...

What time are people thinking of heading down for? For meeting Kojima I got down at about 6am in the end, and there were say 60 people in front of me maybe, but then there were 500 people allowed for that event. So I'm wondering how popular Will will be.

I just got back from it, got my signed cover lol, it was cool, found out more about the water phase and why it wasn't included and also found out more about the social networking aspects.
