The Countdown to the Launch of Spore Blasts Off With Fans Uploading More Than Two Creatures Every Second Since Launch We're not alone in the galaxy! Maxis, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) studio, today announced that Spore(TM) fans and the creatively curious have designed and shared more than 250,000 new alien life forms since yesterday's launch of the Spore Creature Creator - currently more than two creatures are being shared every second! Anyone can download their own copy of the Spore Creature Creator or check out thousands of amazing creations from around the world in the Sporepedia at The Official Spore™ and Spore™ Creature Creator Site. "The response to the Spore Creature Creator has been overwhelming," said Lucy Bradshaw, executive producer of Spore at Maxis. "The creativity and passion that the community is putting into their creatures is spectacular. The development team has spent the last 24 hours checking out the amazing creations racing in from all corners of the globe - with peak volume hitting more than 1,000 creatures being shared a minute." The Spore Creature Creator is a stand-alone product and creativity toy box where players create their own unique creatures, bring them to life with entertaining animations, and share them online with friends around the world. The full version of the Spore Creature Creator will be available for £4.99 at retail stores or by visiting The Official Spore™ and Spore™ Creature Creator Site. A free trial version of the Spore Creature Creator is also available today at The Official Spore™ and Spore™ Creature Creator Site. The trial version features 25% of the creature-making parts from Spore and lets players shape, paint and play with their custom-created creatures. Creatures made in the Spore Creature Creator can also be imported into the full Spore game, allowing players to populate their own galaxies when the game ships worldwide later this year. The Spore Creature Creator lets players create their own creatures, take them on a test drive, snap pictures, and make movies of them. Sharing pictures or videos with friends is as easy as the click of a button. Players can also share their creations with others by uploading to the Sporepedia(TM) at The Official Spore™ and Spore™ Creature Creator Site. The Sporepedia is an extraordinarily vast online destination where people worldwide can search for and share Spore creations, comment on other player's designs, check out celebrity creature creations and much more. The Spore Creature Creator is rated 3+ by PEGI. The downloadable demo version is free. The complete version has an MSRP of £4.99 in the UK. Spore ships for the PC, Mac, Nintendo DS(TM) and mobile phones on September 5, 2008 in Europe and September 7, 2008 in North America and Asia. Visit The Official Spore™ and Spore™ Creature Creator Site to download a free version of the Spore Creature Creator, sign up for the Spore newsletter or check out all-new screenshots and videos from the game. |

I agree, Chrisordie. My experience on installing both the downloaded demo on 17/06/08 and the full SCC from disc today was that if you opted to install the EA package alongside (with all it's ad-spam etc 'benefits'), you'd automatically get bounced out again for not being logged in and, of course, if you didn't have an EA account, you could never be logged in and you'd never get the CC to work. I had to uninstall the EA programme to get the Creature Creator to work at all.
Going through the rigmarole to finally open an EA account and post thuis involved jumping through at least three hoops and too-ing and fro-ing to my personal e-mail account too, a considerable test of limited patience. From what you're posting, it sounds like my experience was hardly unique. Anyone else want to share theirs (+the opprobrium of publically admitting our mutual e-ineptness...), so the EA folk might notice? Apologies, Blalalahat my first post here happens to be a whinge, but getting here really was unnecessarily challenging and so should surprise no-one. |

Im getting really annoyed at EA, it just seems that they are sitting on their arses while people who have actually bought their product, cant use it and have spent a few hours looking around the internet for a solution that doesn't help one bit. Take some responsibility EA, and fix your messes.

DLed the trial (free) creature creator and it worked perfectly first time. I had to try it out without reading the instructions and was pretty impressed with my results. Discovered a few things by accident but after reading the guide, the possibilities seem to be endless.
Sure, things were missing from the free DL, but I've seen enough to want to buy the game when it is released.

Once you're logged in on the EA Spore website, you can click on the 'Sporepedia' tab and you should have over one million creations to look at or download.

I don't know if there's a more relevant place to post this but I am now getting emails inviting me to watch various videos about Spore. These are all in Quicktime which simply does not work on my PC, If someone appropriate is watching, could these clips please be offered in a more appropriate format for the majority of users?
Thank you twarner |

how do i register my damn copy of creature creator, i cracked and bought the disk and now i cant register, and what also ticks me off is that if your want to install spore when it comes out you have to first uninstall the creature creator making my 10 bucks i spent pointless with no 10 rebate when you purchase spore or a coupon for 10 bucks off! no EA found another way to hype a game and earn 10 bucks more off its fans who are purchasing this game esp if you purchase the $80 galactic edition.... enough of my ranting, i should have known better, if anybody can help me with getting this thing registered so i can upload and actually join the masses online and putting my creatures out there like im supposed to do
