Default Spore GA: Repeated nonsense, what's the point?

I finally got Spore GA today after waiting for my exams to finish before ordering it. And I must say, it is highly disappointing. The trailers showed weaponry beyond our imagination, and battles that match Star Wars Battlefront 2. But to get to this sort of thing you need to go through hundreds of pointless and pathetic adventures such as jumping around tiny islands surrounded by mines to collect crystals and whack barrels starting a chain reaction.
But I don't see the point in spending all of my summer holiday doing pathetic missions to just unlock everything bit by bit so slowly.
Is that all there is to GA?
And how do I specifically download missions that are actually good?

Well I might try that, but I was really hoping to do it with my most powerful empire. To be honest it doesn't seem like they've done much to make the expansion compatible with existing games.

No I don't, I tried that! It wouldn't let me until I did some pathetic mission where I go around town talking to some weirdos. Who in the right mind would find this expansion entertaining in the slightest? It has no storyline whatsoever, and whilst Spore doesn't have much of a storyline either it still has goals that you can achieve such as reaching the centre of the galaxy and destroying the Grox.
This expansion? It has nothing but meaningless adventure after adventure, and the adventures themselves are just impossible pieces of rubbish. I finally get an awesome adventure and I just can't do it because I basically run into a city full of hundreds of monsters with the goal to destroy all buildings, how can I destroy the buildings and avoid being killed by all of the monsters at the same time, I'm not a woman so I can't multi-task for gods sake.
Now could someone please suggest something useful to do with this expansion so that I don't carry on feeling like I've wasted £17.99 on the worst game I've ever played since SimCity Societies and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Hey what a coincidence, they were made by EA too, now I see why so many people hate them.
Well at least The Sims 3 was worth the money... So they're not all that bad. But I actually expected this game to be better, and it's proven to be the worst.

Wait what? Okay so create captain is'nt working for you, strange i got everything in there... However, if you go onto quickplay and click on "spore points" it sorts everything into the highest sporepoints, there are tonnes of HUGE DECENT adventures worth 100 spore points. And anyway, my captain is level 5/6 and im still running around with level 1 bladed knuckles, protecto shell and a recharger!
It is more fun when its nearly impossible!

also, i would appreciate it if you kept your negative opinions inside your own mind or at least not broadcast them for everyone to hear. i find it a very good expansion. i am not saying that you should not think it's bad, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but you should at least think about other people. what if someone reads this who wanted to get it and now decide not to? they could get it and it could be the best game they have ever played.

you are making a mountain out of an anthill in my opinion anyway. it is'nt perfect, i agree. but neither is it as bad as you portray.

(haven't read entire thread)

If you go to the creators and outfit a NEW creature, not a captain, in the captain editor, you should have all the parts. If not, then just do all the crappy easy missions to get quick points.

And if you want decent adventures, the TCP judges and Top Creators often have some very impressive adventures, or you can take a look at my sporecast for some >> Sporepedia

If you want your epic war adventure, you can make your own. It's very funny to make your own adventure aswell.
There, you can lock a good captain for it with some strong weapons and rechargers if you want. If you can't make your own, then you can select one of the downloaded ones.

...Without saying any more.

This forum is meant for people to give their opinions. I was getting GA today but now i'm thinking twice about it. This guy might have saved me some money so I think it's good he gave his opinion.

Your basically saying that only good things about SPORE should be put on this forum which is completely the opposite to how a forum works. It's for everyone to put their opinion...

this guy is complaining without first trying GA out properly. please, don't let him put you off it.

as with original spore, finding good adventures takes a bit of searching, especially since the release was so recent. there's a lot of bad stuff out there, but also a lot of good if you can find it.

do remember that unlike with the original spore's release, we now have a community that will round up good adventures into sporecasts.

And when you do find good missions, by god some of them are spectacular. you'll soon pick up how to spot bad missions from title and some statistics alone.

The introduction mission is compulsary, it's purpose is simply to give you 100 points to unlock your first part.

For making captains: after making your first captain you will be able to outfit any new creature as a captain with all parts unlocked by following the directions above.

however said captain will not be usable in quick-play, for the simple reason that a captain with all the best parts makes missions very boringly easy.

well i think you misunderstand. i meant, dont be saying things like "Its rubbilalalalas a bunch of lalalala" or things like that. I think a simple "It wasn't terribly good because..." would do. That way you arn't discouraging the people who do like it and you are getting your feelings across. I do beg your pardon if i wansn't terribly clear the first time ^^

oh i get it...yeah, when i said keep your negative opinions in your head i meant you massive negative opinions. he was talking like satin himself had created this abomination, but i was telling him he coul think like that but if he was going to post his opinion he could at least just say what he thought in a way that would not discourage the people who do like it.

Lest we forget, we had to do all the stages from scratch in base game (unless any of you unlocked them after playing enough of the previous stage.)

We had the Creature Creator, yet we had to evolve creatures through creature stage. If you don't like it, you shouldn't have bought SPORE in the first place.

First of all I'd like to point out that I haven't read the entire thread because there were some uber-posts out there, so maybe your question has already been answered.

But what I'm really trying to point out here is that you don't NEED to play crappy missions. You can try to search for a GOOD Creator (like me (hehe, arrogance, lol), who publishes only finished missions that seem worthy enough to be out there) and play his/her missions. I know, I've tried to find good missions as well, but there's just so... well, there's not much in stocks, if you will. And I also think you don't automatically download everything; I think the Spore Server randomly picks a few missions it wants you to get and then you get them. So it could be a coincidence that there's no good missions in YOUR game, while there could be good missions in other people's games.

I think, though, that the real obstacle that you have to overcome is PATIENCE. See, good stuff takes TIME to create, and good creators take time to learn how to create good stuff.

So, I think the last thing you want to do is be impatient and just throw GA in the dusty old box in the attic, never to look at it again, instead of just hang around waiting for a while until the good creators arise and the bad creators back down!

Heed my call, Creators of the Good Adventures, thy time is nigh! Thou must come out of thy shelter and strike down these amateurs! Art thou with me?!

I did, that's how I got round to doing an impossible mission. I also did the Space Port mission with my Empire which I admit was fun as it's exactly what I was expected from this game, but after that it all went downhill.

I have played it for three hours in total, and in those three hours I should be impressed. First impressions count, and I did not get a good one at all. I will try it some more though, because as I said earlier I do not want to feel like I've wasted £17.99.

Was I complaining about Spore? No. Spore is one of my favourite games.

And Shrooblord, I will subscribe to your creations, I am sure they will be promising.

You want a stronger captain for your space adventure? Here's my advice:
1. Use the power editor on the piece of weaponry.
2. PLAY MORE MISSIONS! Playing More missions = more spore points = captain ranks up = able to choose more equipment.

Ok I am happy to say that I feel more comfortable with the concept of the game now. I have been playing some more realistic missions instead of ones like collect the crystals.
Sorry if I've been a nuisance but I do get stressed when I feel like I've wasted money, thank god I never got HD DVD's.

sry i was kind of getting up on your back. i just hate it when people say a game is the worst thing ever when it's at least enjoyable for some people.
