I never need to burn CD/DVD so just get rid of the 3 installs. If I even need to burn a CD/DVD and its blocked I will find a way around it or have a proper look at the computer misuse act to see if it allows copy protection software to stop you legally using your CD/DVD burner.

I doubt securom will go completely. I would be happy with the activation limit REMOVED. Not relaxed to 5 or something stupid, GONE.

There is no 3 time install limit.

There is no install limit on *your computer* at all.

It's a limited number of *AUTOMATIC* *MACHINE* installs, manual installs (by contacting support) is unlimited.

[snip]

SecureROM DOES NOT and NEITHER DOES EA have a rule about how many times your allowed to install Spore and on how many computers. They do have a requirement that for the 4th technically different machine you will be installing it on, it will be required to get it cleared with EA support.

So get a freaking clue, YOUR the Troll here.
While there is no theoretical limit to the number of activations, taking into consideration EA's support line and offline activation process, what happens when EA either cannot or simply will not provide that service any longer? And rest assured, that time will come; it's printed clear as day on the very box (see quoted text and scan below) on display at the store - or in your hands for those of you who purchased the boxed version.

Also, while the claim is that one can install Spore on one PC an unlimited number of times without consuming any additional activation tokens is theoretically true, it has not proven to be true in practice.

I won't get into all the various ways a person can consume all three activation tokens on the same PC here as it's already been covered extensively on these forums.

In a nutshell, EA can suspend those services, and therefore your right and ability to continue playing the game at a later date, at any time of their choosing, at any moment given 30 days prior notice.

There most certainly is an installation limit for any game that uses SecuROM's current DRM methods.

Suddenly, your whole argument that, since the game has an unlimited number of (theoretical) activations, the 3 lifetime activations provided to customers is therefore harmless all goes up in smoke - along with your credibility.

Pro-tip: When you accuse someone of being wrong, that they need to get a clue, and that they need to do better at checking their facts before they speak; be sure that you have, in turn, done the same.
