There was a poll made on the Tech Support board. But problem is, most people there will, of course, be experiencing problems.
So I bring the question here, as well as a link to the original poll/post: EA / Maxis: Do something about it. Please vote. This is, of course, an imperfect poll/question, but it will at least give us an idea of how widespread these issues are. ***** A clarification of the questions: 1. No problems: this means that you have installed Spore without any issues, have access to online content, and have not encountered any bugs 2. Slight problems: this means you have encountered slight problems, but you can still play and somewhat enjoy the game (eg. can't access online content, encountered minor bugs that don't make the game unplayable) 3. Major problems: this means that you can't play the game at all, or barely (eg. can't install, game keeps crashing, major bugs which makes the game practically unplayable) Last edited by Vicissitude; 12-09-2008 at 04:41 AM.. |

If you bought the Thai version, you might be in trouble...
See this thread: Can't play in Thailand / so many problems Specifically: I'm not sure if this is confirmed, but if this is actually the case, you might be out of luck. |

I put Major Problems. The game crashes randomly every 5-10 minutes, the editors worked fine (the ones in the main menu) except when playing the actual game in the creature/tribal/etc... Weird texturing glitches randomly blurring on my creature and painting over everything, often crashes when I click "Save", log out and then back in and notice my creatures (Made like 3 of them) are copied like forty times so now I have 48 creatures instead of 3. And no, I can't change the language to English even when I clicked "English" in the installer.
So, that's my problems (not all of them). I'm not installing Spore again until they get a working patch for everyone. |

Only problems? the space game lags a bit during combat, if the game's been running for too long it freezes for a few seconds every now and then, and there's a bit of after lag for a few minutes if i enter a busy planet.

1) When saving a creature in the creature editor ingame in the creature phase and the complextity of the creature is around 80% the game hangs with the spore spining curson.
2) Save games randomly become - unloadable; that is when I try to load them the game hangs in the loading screen with the spore spining curson. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- *edit 1) Is now a resolved issue. (possibly 2) as well - will see if no corruption in a week) Platform: Vista 32bit, Nvidia 7600GS AGP Fixed by the following steps: a) Installed Vista SP1 b) Uninstalled current Nvidia drivers. c) Installed Latest Nvidia drivers. d) Creature creation no longer fails with high complexity creatures. Direct downloaded, installed, started up no problem, then I went to edit a creature I had made in the creature creator trial and the 3D graphics had extreme corruption (giant random planes of color, blank spots). Rebooted my system, and now SporeApp.exe shows as running in the task manager when I double click it, but the game never starts.

I put "slight problems" since one day spore kept CTD'ing when I zoomed out to the solar system view throughout the day, but it hasn't happened since. I think Windows Live One Care was messing around, scanning or tuning my system, no idea now. Plus occasionally the planets will have no texture, just a web while I am zooming out, but it goes back to normal pretty quickly.
I thoroughly enjoy the game and apart from the first problem I had, it's all great.

I've had the game crash just after the cell stage and at one point during the creature stage I had a serious lag for a minute or two.
When I was on the Creature Creater version, I had one creation that got saved, but didn't appear in the archives. Took me ages to rearchive my creation because it wouldn't accept the standard Drag and drop method. Haven't had this problem on the full game yet. Also, a notice to all. If you do have a cracked version of SPORE, you will encounter more problems then original copy owners. Just a general notice.

No problems at all. i was expecting them though because Mass Effect was a pain before i got that running due to Securom and i believe Spore uses the same copy protection.
Then again i might be problem free because I solved the issues with Securom for Mass Effect. |
