what is secuROM?

first of all, sorry if there are other threads about this but i have searched and found nothing.

i dont really know anything about computers only the games i play on it

so how can i check if i have secuROM and if it will affect my spore from playing.

SecuROM might contain malware and rootkit. And it might not. So if you want to be on the safe side, you should not buy Spore. But if you got SporeCC you already got SecuROM. It wont help to delite SporeCC, you need to delite SecuROM seperatly. And that might be difficult.

couple of things,
thats still helping prevent more people using the same disc and getting a nocd crack, that helps theft,
i bet more people still buy it more than hack it,
and still that does not mean secuROM makes people get a hack
and the 3 activation thing does not work on ALL secuROM software.

because of different ways to use it...itll happen with spore..and you seem to not realise...people will still get and make hacks and cracks...thats not stopping pirates...oh no it isnt. even if only SOME do it..it hasnt preventeed what it wanted to prevent did it?

its a prevention.

cars have alarms and locking on them...they still get stolen

yeah so its not preventing the theft is it? no a car being stolen hasnt had the theft prevented has it

of course not all cars get robbed alarmed or not but spore can be cracked and will be cracked...its upto the others to decide to get the crack and they will...no preventation at all

the only real way a person will not steal is if they choose not to

SecuROM is there to prevent illegal copies. it makes it harder

no it doesnt make it harder...all is needed is ONE copy to get cracked..the crack is released then its upto other people to get that crack and have a cracked game...to have a cracked game you dont need to crack it yourself, all you need is one already avaliable crack from the net and download it so anyone can do that, download a crack

as i said theft is only ever prevented effectivly by the choice of the person to not steal. like the cars not all cars get stolen only because people choose not to do it...they can have all the alarms and gadgets it wants, someone will still steal it if they want to
