ok first off.....i dont want any flaming or argueing about anyhting like securom here ok guys !

so here goes, i was telling my brother about spore yesterday and hes interested in it now

but he was wondering wether or not it might work on his laptop.

Now this got me thinking....i know you get 3 activations and if you uninstall the game and reinstall it counts as another activation but does installing on more than 1 computer count ?also checking incase it dosnt work anyway on his laptop.

And once again.....please no arguements

Installing on two different PC's will each require an activation to be used. You can check whether it will run on your brothers laptop by using Can You Run It?

Can you tell me what happens after you use the 3 activations? Will we have to throw the game in the bin then?

If I installed the game on a single 8GB pen drive and transfered it to and from different PC's, this would be ok? I would not actully be uninstalling it then.

this would not be ok cuz then the hardware of the computer changes.
and hardware changes eat up an activation aswell

bt that tester thing doesnt always work EA, it sez i cant play most of the games i hav installed on my comp

also, if ur activations run out u can still run the game...just not install it agen, cant u?

yeh , my mate actually has 1.63ghz Dual core (and for laptops a 1.8ghz Dual core is required) But he will be able to play it anyways i think , but , gonna let him install my copy first so he can be sure
(and me having a laptop means no hardware changes anyways

)

if activations run out you have to contact EA support ( I think thru mail) and then wait untill they give you a new one

but my question for EA mods : Can you ask for a new activation when you run out of them , but you are still able to play spore with that last one?

Everytime I heare about the 3 activivation limit I get more and more uncomfortable. It was a bad decision to include it with Spore.

I just noticed, I once watched a video with a girl in it and she said that she had spotted an "ominous red glow" appearing across the forums. Where have all these sigs gone? They have either been replaced with bright green sigs or just plain white ones. :P

You can request another from EA Support.

Yes, you can still play using the third activation.

You install the game on your computer. Then as long as you don't uninstall the game or change your computer hardware, your be fine. You can only ever install the game up to 3 times. If you need to install it anymore times than 3, you contact EA support and get another install request/activation.

ok it shows up as everything green except the cpu and cpu speed is on the red bar right next to the line for minimal specs.....should he even risk it lol ?

Wait a minute... If I install on my laptop. Then format and reinstall. That counts as 2 activations, despite being same hardware? 0.o

My Situation:
1) Get back my laptop tmrw
2) Re-sizzle it with my build of windows
3) Get Spore and install it (ONE INSTALLATION)
4) Few weeks later, determine best optimum performance of spore and add it to my Windows Clone disk.
5) Re-sizzle it again (ANOTHER INSTALLATION)

So those 2 will require activation despite being the same hardware?

God help me when I purchase a new laptop in November T_______T
