In the Creature Creator, I make a creature and its fine until I paint it. It takes a sec to get the color on but sometimes half my creature is much darker than what I want it to be. Its not shadow because the darkness is all around the body, not just where there should be shadow. Here are a few examples of what I mean:

check the CC threads, there were many people with the same problem. not sure if they found a soloution. something about complexity was involved i think. search down the threads and you'll prob find some help. if not then ask in there.
What is your graphics card btw? is it a boarder line one? because it probably is related. |

I've played The Creature Creator many times and it still does the same. It only happens in the paint mode though and its not specific patterns or coats on my creature that makes it go black, it just does it on random creatures! At first I thought it might have been because my creature had 5 on sneaking so maybe the creature creator had painted it darker so it blended in more!

seems ok to me, bit short on memory which could be the issue, it maybe a slight compatibility issue. Have you tried, on the creature that i happens on, taking a few bits off? making them a little be more simple, are they all maxed out on complexity?
As i said, have a look in the CC forum, they may have a soloution there. look at the thread before you post a new topic though. |

there was a bug with something.... oh, it was with uploading to sporepedia, where one part would just cause the creature to be unsharable. The trick to fix it was to shift each part a little bit and resave. Maybe try this with your final black creature? the root of the problem maybe the same, even if the symptoms are different

I think i have an answer to your question. Go into the creature creator and go to paint. Press control + shift + C. type this in exactly,
option OptionBakeQuality 1. and press enter once to enter and again to close. this worked for me, i hope this will work for you |

I think that no matter how good a graphic card you have, you can experience some lack of graphic. I have more than I should need, but sometimes when I place a creature on the ground, they are black for a sec or two, and almost all the time I go down to explore planets, some of them are grey with squares, until both the creatures and the planets suddenly become some colour.
Perhaps it's a question of memory?

Oh, yeah. I look up old posts too now and then, but I don't specificly search for them to post my very first post in and also to then disappear from the surface of the Earth (hmm... that's fishy, no?).

I always thought it was a ide effect of the procedural programming, where animation and, I suppose colourin, are not predetermined but decided procedurally on the fly (Oooh dear the thread police are out again trying to decide what you can or cannot answer) |
