hasn't sum1 already sed that a three activations hack thing will be made, so that problems gone, i dnt realy care about the secuROM being on my comp, if EA wants to steal everything on my comp they can, i hav no bank details or nethin 2 do with money on my comp, im clever enuf to do that in person.

im not backing secuROM, its a stupid program and the creator should burn in hell, bt a couple of u not buying the game isnt gonna make a company worth millions like EA stop production. sry to break it to u, bt in the numbers your in, to them your insignificant

and can i get this straight, secuROm the program we all no and loathe, has no ill effects on ur comp, well it myt do, but it DOES NOT make ur computer explode/crash/die/fly away

haha thnks, bt noo dnt jump of a bridge , u myt hurt sum1 underneath kiddin of course, yeh i guess for sum ppl it will pose a threat, bt 2 be honest i doubt the guys and gals at secuROM are gonna steal ur money, theyve landed a contract from EA to release with one of the most anticipated games ever, i should think ther rolling in dough.

and im open to opinions, show me proof of secuROM on its own crashing a hard drive and ill concede

umm, proof,, erm. lets see. I got a brand new copy of Mass Effect (which comes with an older, more benevolent form of securom) and after about a week it started ruining the DVD drive, which I coped with. Soon though, I turned my computer on to get a message like "SecuROM has denied access to the following drives and files as it has deemed them unsafe: C Drive, BIOS." In case you dont know what BIOS is, its the thing that starts up your computer. So it abruptly turned off. I took it around to the local techies who used that strange diagnostic thing and after quarter of an hour they announced they could fix it but it would cost more than the pc's worth. And they told me not to install mass effect on my new one. Cant think why

cos its borin and that nt realy proof, i believe u, bt it isnt proof.

and i no wot the BIOS is, im nt stupid lol.

haha, ur BIOS was unsafe...that makes me laff...maybe the secuROM was bored with life so it decide to commit suicide

and how to u no the old secuROM is more benevolent, maybe it was evil, but in brainwashed us all into thinkin it was good

will spore work without secuROM, cos if it does then u could just get a third party thing to remove it and the play the game without it, nt sure EA would be to happy bout that tho

it could've been SecuROM + something else on your PC = death?

not that it makes SecuROM innocent in any way. Personally i think its a mistake on EA's part, but what can you do? :P

yeh, secuROM on its own wouldnt hav done that, however if u had a virus that was hiding in ur c drive and BIOS secuROM would hav deemed it dangerous and terminated it....self xD

Even if it was SecuROM + anything that causes bios / OS to malfunction, the fact that SecuROM causes bios / OS to malfunction is enough to worry about SecuROM, as it played a factor in its destruction. I installed SecuROM thru NWN on my old pc, and low n behold after rebooting, i noticed a slowdown. I'm not talking a few FPS, I'm talking longer load times (in booting and in explorer, games etc) and things like the start menu taking a few seconds to respond. You can tell me to format all you want, but why should I accept that because EA / Atari decides they want to put malware on my computer cuz theyre paranoid that I might copy their stupid CD? I paid money for this thing, dont try to protect me from myself. BTW, I cant understand why others find this acceptable and decide to tell everybody to find annoying work arounds for these issues.

They put this product out with these measures of DRM on it, that have been proven to be cracked in days or less, thinking it will somehow convince pirates to give up cracks and accept being screwed after paying for a product... lol lol lol lol .... I really think EA has other motives for putting this garbage on their CDs... maybe they owe Sony money? Maybe they like the idea that ppl will fork over money for additional licenses?

Well until they throw this DRM away, they wont get a dime from me. Not with MEPC, not with Spore, and not with any other future release. But hey... let the games add up and their lost revenue continue, maybe in time theyll learn not to play with fire!

tbh, EA doesnt realy care if they dont get any money from u individually, ur insignificant (in ther eyes) compared to the the millions of copies theyre gonna sell

Not directed to anyone in particular:

As much as SecuROM sucks, please don't make stories up. The truth is bad enough.
Whether posting topics to rant or making stuff up, it can only weaken the cause. No-one will take us seriously.

BTW me individually = 70 computer games collected over 13 yrs (I still play Panzer General I - probably wouldnt be possible if it had this type of DRM on it). Im sure im not the only one saying that. So if EA wants to ignore "individuals", itll bite them eventually, as im not the only one this pertains to.

RE EDIT: EA has been losing money quarterly, I'm sure they'll take every penny they can get.

Quarterly public trading records show they have lost 90 mill the first quarter of the year. This is thru public trading, meaning theyre losing consumer confidence and achieving no good rep.

"The company, which also publishes popular sports games like "Madden NFL," posted a fiscal first-quarter net loss of $95 million, or 30 cents a share, compared with a loss of $132 million, or 42 cents a share, a year before."
