No-one is saying they put it in the game to p*** us off. We all know why they did it... to try and stop the pirates. But the fact of the matter is that it does p*** us off (at least those of us who think we should be treated like loyal customers, rather than potential pirates and low-life criminals), and it does not stop pirates. So one big epic fail from EA.

All our stuff is pretty sound theres still a few bits we're waiting for confirmation on. I keep meaning to go through and pick out all the core pieces of truth and what we have and compile it for future reference and ease

I can't believe that EA has let all of this speculation about SecuROM and whether it is or isn't being removed from Spore rise, they haven't done much to remedy it have they?

I don't believe there is any speculation about whether SecuROM will be removed from Spore or not. It won't, period. Noone from EA has even hinted that it would, so why would people speculate? And since the game has gone gold, it's too late, anyway. All we can hope for, is that it gives customers such a hard time, that EA is forced to remove it with a patch later on.

I also have had securom on my pc for a while and only noticed a problem when the dvd drive started to go wrong. After the drive was replaced I never noticed any problems.
I don't think securom alone is a reason to stop me buying the game. However, the 3 activation limit is, so for that reason alone it is unlikely I will purchase Spore. Will this affect my decision to buy other EA product? Probably. I would have upgraded to the latest XBox versions of PGA, FIFA, etc. but I will now more than likely spend my money elsewhere. Do I think EA care or give a damn about losing me as a customer? No. Of course they don't. Last edited by RobbieW; 17-08-2008 at 11:46 AM.. |

I dont think SecuROM really uses a criteria for which pc's it crashes, it depends on its mood. From what I've heard some people have had no issues, others have lost personal information, and I know personally how adept it is at ruining a pc

Im not for securom at all, i hate it tbh if its making people have to buy new computers. If i had to buy a new computer because of EA i wouldn't buy any of their games. And is this version much much worse than previous securom versions?

I can't say that I've had any hardware damaged when I had SecuROM on my PC. But I knew that it wasn't functioning properly. It seemed much slower and well the PC just wasn't as productive as usual.

Im also in serious doubt whether or not to buy Spore with Securom on it and all but what I don't get is how it could actually damage a hardware component. I mean, its software itself so aside from some kind of weird overheating problem that fries your hardware...I don't get how else it could damage your pc (but then again my knowledge about how a pc works isn't that great
)
