Just say that they're reducing their sales incredibly, tell them to look to the forum and see how many people have this thing in their signature. Tell them its a reputation dropper. Tell them why securom is dangerous, ie malware, giving away our details to third parties, administrative access. Tell them that its futile. Some pirate somewhere will hack through it. They managed to hack into the olympic computers im sure they can manage securom

Has everyone signed this petition DRM Overhaul Petition : [ powered by iPetitions.com ] ?

When you get to the bit about paying just close the window and your signature will still count. Pay if you want though i guess

Done here is my e-mail:
Quote:
Hello

I have been on the spore forums alot lately and theres big topics about SecuROM the copy protection that was put on spore. And if you havent already seen it i would like you to know how many that was going to buy spore gave up. Sorry But because of this secuROM you are losing MANY customers. As some said: You are treating Customers like criminals. why? Are you doing something or are you just annoying it all. I've even heard that if spore is going to earn what it has costed to make it you gotta sell 3-5 million games! I used to love EA and its great games as SPORE but im not so sure anymore...
I will report back if i get an answer

I have to say that the staff at EA are rather ignorant, ignoring their customers.

I think we all are.

Also since securom is going to plague the PC versions of all EA games from now on. Is it worth spreading the word? I've already posted in the sims 3 forum linking this topic, they already have an anti securom thread going after all the hassle it caused sims 2 expansion pack owners.

Some of the upcoming PC EA releasing coming up are:
Dead Space
Mercenaries 2
Mirrors Edge
Burnout Paradise
Crysis Warhead
Need for Speed Undercover
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
The Sims 3

Its possible i'm missing a few others.

Yeah don't buy those games either, unless they sort out their DRM Copy Protection ways.

Yes its a good idea spreading the word. I've already lost one pc to SecuROM, i wont lose another. I held that pc very close to me, that P bit in pc is very important

EA - this makes no sense whatsoever. You spend tons of money on copy protection even after the fact MEPC was cracked the day of its release. I guess your install limits make up for it because you get people to purchase more PERMISSION to use the very product they BOUGHT already. Oh well, you lost 100 bux from me this year so far, didnt buy MEPC, and I wont buy Spore. Continue to use SecuROM and install limits and you will continue to lose money you thought youd gain by somehow convincing pirates to give up their ways and buy games (laff laff laff laff laff).

Seriously y'all... there has to be another motive for them using SecuROM, as the crapware is hacked n cracked in days now. This install limit is absolutely their attempt to dupe people into purchasing unneccessary software. Horrible practice by EA, one that has EARNED a bad name in my book. I do not condone piracy, but they're starting to earn a better name than EA (along with other publishers) is, and that is scary.

I was so excited about Spores release. However as a gamer that had a computer wrecked by SecuROM, and a gamer that is totally put off by any game with an install limit, count me in as a lost customer, EA. Continue to use these intrusive, destructive practices, and you will continue to lose revenue from me.

I got another reply from EA:

Quote:
Hello,

So there you have it straight from the horses mouth... Changing hardware triggers an activation installing drivers should not cause an activation... Lets see if it's true shall we?
