Yes it is. People that like spore just play it, they don't go to the forum to talk about it

You're wrong, and this rather busy forum is a clue.

SPORE is hot and continues to surprise me, the editors are great fun in themselves and it's rare in games to be surprised and entertained again and again by the monsters that show up. Most games have 10-12 creatures before they end- big bad boss roll credits, SPORE isn't like that.

Sure there's a lot of whingers here on the forums, but I challenge you to find forum's about a game and NOT find loads of whingers, it's like an Internet Olympic sport.
Do yourself a favour start a new game and try an do it your own way, make your own story, ignore the suggested path and strike out on your own and see where it leads...

Well, I like that the editors are so customsizeable, but still easy to understand

also everything is explained perfectly when you enter a new stage.

Default creators

To be honest - the game IS the creators. I've ****ed about with just about everything from Milkshape (half-life models), 3D Studio Max and Maya to level/map editors like WorldCraft (Half life again, back in the day), NWN aurora and even, many aeons ago, the really good Dungeon Keeper II map editor.

Frankly, for ease of use and fast effect there's nothing quite like the Spore creators - oki, so stuff can clip badly, but really this is probably the biggest, most important development for any "modding community" since Valve released the HL SDK. It's nowhere near as advanced as many others out there but for sheer brilliant simplicity it's far and above anything else... more than 35 million creations uploaded already rather proves the point.

... oh and Epics ftw

things i like in spore:
in the cell phase:
*all the swiming little cristals
*that depending from wich angle you aproach you can attack even bigger creatures than you

in the creature phase:
*that when you stand in the spcies you go up flying
*that you can pick up objects
*the huge monsters
*the landscapes

in the tribe phase:
*that my tribe dances mariachi

in civ:
*once again the huge monsters

in space
*terraforming

The procedural animation is great and practically seamless. Good work!

the fact that you can make really pointless creatures with stubby limbs.

i like most of it, but the best part imo is the creature creator, and all the pretty colours that come with it

I love creating my own creatures, buildings etc and seeing them in the game. Its really good that you can share your creations and look at other peoples as well (there are some really good ones out there, like a giant goat vehicle and stuff :P).
Another thing I really like is the little details, like seeing the planets in the sky, and how you can always come back and see something new. I especially like the cell stage.
Well worth the money

The best thing for me in the game is the HUGE amount of stellar systems with planets and satellites to explore.

Default The civilization stage

the civilization stage was great in all that you could do.. attack or buy out cities..
i wilalalala was expanded i loved the childish wars with those little guys runnin around panicing but it got so repetitive and the lack of a visible warzone theres more to war than three tanks. but the game was well thought out from a creative sense but gameplay is lacking i hate to be negative but there is almost unlimited oppertunities to be monopolizied in expansion packs which i hope will happen

Allright, i just did my things i dislike post, now its time for some positive stuff

Cell Stage
Incredibly simple, but somehow incredibly fun!

Creature Stage
Massive amounts of ground to explore, hundreds of creatures there to kill or befriend, the way this stage is so free with virtually no restrictions on what you do makes it fantastic. Creating creatures is incredibly fun!

Tribal Stage
Allthough this was my least favourite stage, it's still allright
Clothing is fun throughout the game
Aliens coming down and beaming creatures away is strangely satisfying.
Playing music is pretty fun aswell

Civ Stage
Designing vehicles and buildings is incredibly fun
Destroying a city, also incredibly fun
If you love waging war, this is probably the stage for you

Space Stage
Building a massive empire and then smashing a tiny one with loads of planet busters is awesome
Terraforming is pretty cool
Just free flying and making contact with lots of empires is one of my favourite bits of the stage

Overall game
The trait system is a good idea
Creators are easy to use and you can create great stuff with them
Sporepedia is a cool idea, shame it takes so very long to load.

Overall i would give this game a 8/10. Its great, but has a fair few flaws in it i hate.

It depressing that this thread has less than a quarter of the replies of the "What do you dislike about Spore?" thread

And half of that thread is all flaming and ranting...NOT constructive criticism.
