SPR – Spore Realism Project Team presents:
![]() [WWD] Walking with Dinosaurs v.0.0.4 Wiki Quote / Dinosaurs were the dominant vertebrate animals of terrestrial ecosystems for over 160 million years, from the late Triassic period (about 230 million years ago) to the end of the Cretaceous period (65 million years ago), when most of them became extinct in the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event. The discovery in 1862 of Archaeopteryx first suggested a close relationship between dinosaurs and birds; aside from the presence of fossilized feather impressions, Archaeopteryx was very similar to the contemporary small predatory dinosaur Compsognathus. Research since the 1970s indicates that theropod dinosaurs are most likely the ancestors of birds; in fact, most paleontologists regard birds as the only surviving dinosaurs and some believe dinosaurs and birds should be put together under one biological class.[1] Crocodilians are the other surviving close relatives of dinosaurs, and both groups are members of the Archosauria, a group of reptiles that first appeared in the very late Permian and became dominant in the mid-Triassic. For about the first half of the 20th century, both scientists and the general public regarded dinosaurs as slow, unintelligent cold-blooded animals. However, the bulk of research since the 1970s has supported the view that they were active animals with elevated metabolisms, and often with adaptations for social interactions. This change of view was strongly influenced by evidence of the descent of birds from theropod dinosaurs. Since the first dinosaur fossils were recognized in the early nineteenth century, mounted dinosaur skeletons have become major attractions at museums around the world. Dinosaurs have become a part of world culture and remain consistently popular among children and adults. They have been featured in best-selling books and films (notably Jurassic Park), and new discoveries are regularly covered by the media. The term "dinosaur" was first coined in 1842 by Sir Richard Owen and derives from Greek δεινός (deinos) "terrible, stiff, masterly, skillful" + σαῦρος (sauros) "lizard". It is sometimes used informally to describe other prehistoric reptiles, such as the pelycosaur Dimetrodon, the winged pterosaurs, and the aquatic ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs and mosasaurs, although none of these were dinosaurs. Request for dinosaur fans – We need your help – pls sign/post in this thread (*lobby style) if you like the WWD creatures and wish to see them in the game in a combined planet mode. Spore should have lots of planets and basically we desire to convince EA to ask graciously Maxis to make sure all the creatures posted below will be found at one point or another as compact downloadable content that will be present on one single planet in the Galaxy. We see no easy alternative to play with them if automated systems will have them alienated on different planets so we will need to search and move them with spaceships. If by any chance we will get the option to evolve with them on a planet from the start of a "new game" will also be great. So when your spore gets out of the water guess who will be waiting for you on the land to say “Hi”. Marketing people are impressed by numbers so pls feel free to post 2-3 words in support. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the creatures. WWD Videos: YouTube - Cainori's Channel The last WWD version contains a patch with 21 famous dinosaurs (*6 carnivore, one crocodile and 14 herbivore) and 2 bonus creatures. Carnivore Dinosaurs: 1. not bad, some of the mouths look a little wrong and some of the body to head to tail ratio could be a little different
but compared to others i have seen on sporepedia, i'll give you 8/10 alter them slightly to look a more like the images that we all know from the museums and i dont see why ppl dont start giving you 10/10 for the hard work you have put in |

Thank you both - really appreciate it. I'm sure people who will like them will probably post in support and offer to help. As for some mouths...well there isn't much that can be done due to spore limitations, we will never have 100% realism but we can get 80% up to 95%. Also the zip should contain the polished ones for size/ratio.

Cool! I support this idea and think maxis should make it possible!
Actually if they're going to put all the dinosaurs on one planet, maybe all the modern real creatures should go on earth! Last edited by orifice; 03-08-2008 at 12:40 PM.. |

It would be cool if there was a world totally made up of spore dinosaurs, like a massive Jurassic Park

Thank you all. I also strongly think that getting one planet full of only dinosaurs in the huge Spore Galaxy is not much to ask from EA and Maxis to guarantee - no matter how or when they do it. Plus it will be easier for them to show off Spore for so many children who love dinosaurs... imagine EA marketing, will they wish in a discussion about Spore to just mention about that dinosaur planet? I think they will also desire this - so in the end beside so many factors, it will also depend on how well this thread will get fan backing - that is if we are to influence or not, faster or slower any decision in such direction.
Btw - I've just made a new WWD wallpaper:

that head size is perfect, that would be an adult mosasaurus.
As for the complete skeleton, here is one that was recently auctioned off. http://blog.everythingdinosaur.co.uk...us_auction.jpg If this proves to be a bit to dificult for now then leave it. It keeping with the name of this thread try making an Allosaurus. THe name of the thread reminded me of a special called the Ballad of Big Al. Heres the skeleton for reference http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2067/...ccca9950_b.jpg |

OK - Allosaurus is done - check it on you tube and my spore page. But no more carnivore dinosaurs pls. the paint job is severly limitated by Spore. A large meat eating dinsoaur will need all the camouflage it gets plus there is the problem of sun and heat. Anyway Trex was also fixed as well as the Trodoon. So the generic pack is almost redone and polished. I will also add all the new ones repainted by the team members.

hi dddddddsddd, welcome to the forums.
I'm sorry to inform you that the last post in this thread before yours was on the 4th of September 2008, and as such this thread is considered "dead". There isn't much use posting in it as the topic is likely outdated, or the original posters will no longer be present/paying attention to it. The link you are referring to has probably broken due to age: on the internet site addresses will change slightly over time, and files may be removed. This makes old links invalid, as the site they are linking to has changed its address. |
