Default Project Realism Spore

UPDATE:WWD Patch v0.4 released !!!

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/s...-v0-0-4-a.html

23 Dinosaurs Expected. Most videos on channel.

Hi all,

I will like to announce that I have joined forces with Roboraptor to use everything in our power to put familiar creature’s designs in Spore. We will leave the alien parts and the aliens for Maxis and we will concentrate on the options that thoughtful Maxis designers left inside the game, for we the "clients" of this game, to play with them and make the game more "realistic". The SPR team is not fully setup but we are searching for team members.

Also please feel free to check Roboraptor work also, as soon as we pass the initial stages and get some team building - we will come back with more updates for Earth creatures loving people.

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/s...uria-pack.html

Please note that we are not realism fanatics, we don't hate cartoons, we do understand marketing, sales, game genre, game design plans and the philosophy of Sims and Will - and we promise to do aliens too as soon as we get the need to do so from time to time.

I think its 2 years since I played Spore in Germany at the GC Convention. I can confirm lots of improvements to the game and I was hoping for the vehicle editor or any other of them to also be in the demo... but then again the creature creator one will do.

To cut to the chase here are some creations that I will not name - I'm sure you will love to guess.

Please accept my apologies for the cartoonish remains in the design and also the large size but the Spore Creature Creator has its limitations and I wanted to give you full detail.

[PRS] Team Members:

Smuzzle
Dotevolution
Roboraptor
Cainori
MikeTsubasa

Recruitments needs:

Quality assurance
Animators
Graphic Artists
Animal Anatomy Specialists
Animal Description Specialists

Objectives for the next two weeks:
  • Recruitment
  • Random realism model creation / We will set on a full species plan as soon as we get fully operational.
Best Regards,
Cain

SRP Team

Smuzzle
Dotevolution
Roboraptor

Loll - no worries - we will do aliens too - but for now we need to help the realism part since it laggs behind.

So it's more about being realistic than total realism (which implies real creatures)?
That's cool but personally I like having cartoony silly-looking creatures too.

I do like your triceratops, and the croc or is it a gator? I can't tell myself but either way it looks cool

yes - you are correct - being realistic are the best words if you take in account the c creator's limitations. I don't plan to put heavy graphics in and modd all the game so it looks super real - we will then fail o realize the scope of the game - this is just adding a bit of Earth DNA in the primordial soup.

Woutman thanks for the design - we will surely use it.

Cainori I suggest you change the colour of the text in the first post, blue/grey colourblindness is very common and that low-contrast between the text and backround will make it hard for people with various visual imparements to read.

You may want to check a search on the tag xsporereal.
The xspore site has a group creating real creatures all tagged with that.

Yeah that's much better I think a lot of people forget that just because they can easily read/see something not everyone else can, I personally have totally fine vision but I have friends and family with visual imparements.

Anyway sorry if I sounded rude but I have had accessability issues firmly entrenched in my psyche beacuse I had a registered blind website development lecturer at uni and 3 of my grandparents had serious visual imparements (2 of them are/were registered blind) so I need to make sure that people are aware of this stuff so 20-30 years down the line when my eyesight starts to fail I will still be able to use the net.

Sorry but I can't refrain from notifying you that all latin names must flow.

You cannot have the first half of the name ending in a constonant.

These "realism" guys are starting to sound a little on the "high and mighty" side to me. Ask if you need a definition.

It is not about sounds it is about looks. I do models not descriptions. If we hit realism around 60% - I am more than happy. I'm not sure at what definition you are referring at but I will be more thank happy to get any help, full share, full credits.

But if we are referring to the T-Rex Sapiens that’s gigantic for spore size scale, everything there is stretched to the max.

Anyway since we were talking about cats ...

That reminds me - on a Polish site I’ve seen all the editors posted - I wonder how much effort will it take to add realism in 5-6 editor types (creatures, vehicles+spaceships, boats+airplanes, fauna, buildings - I hope I got them correctly).
