Hey
I thank EA for a groundbreaking game, and a new very interesting way to play skate games. Someone had to put up against those horrible Tony Hawk games. But to my point: Skate 3 need some serious improvement. I think i'm not alone thinking that Skate 2 felt more like a beta version of the released game. This is only my thoughts, and I am happy to discuss my statements. I made a list to keep it simple: ----------------------------------- -A whole new town is needed. We players that played Skate (1) a lot don't find the "new town" very interesting to explore at all. A lot of places have been removed. And few has been added. -Multiplayer need some serious improvement too. I guess I am not alone with the thought that Skate 2 would have moveable objects in multiplayer. I also think that we should be able to freeskate in the whole city, Not just a few parts of it. -Walking is aweful. We all can live with this, but it need a lot of improvement to be useful at all. -Keep it realistic. Skate 2 hangs on a thin line at this point. It is still fun. But don't go further with all the monster jumps and so on. We don't want a new era of Tony Hawks games. -A more interesting storyline would be nice. But ofcourse not necessary. ----------------------------------- Ofcourse I know this is a lot to ask. And probably isn't half of my points even possible to fit in one game. But it is just some of my thoughts. And as I said. I'd love to discuss this. I'd love to hear others opinions too. Over and out.. Last edited by Slyed; 19-08-2009 at 08:29 PM.. |

also that about the peds and skaters in the way. it can really ruin a whole spot for you. Also the stuff that people drop everwhere is really annoying. So i hope these things can be improved. cuz if it is we will have the perfect skate game. The Skate franchice is so close to be the perfect game, so you guys cant stop now. |

i totally see your point, the places in skate 1 were so much better than skate 2, it could have had a few more skateparks at least or the plan B warehouse ( my favourite ) also the fact that the stick sensitivity was mental, i could never do the rob dyrdek challenge because of it, ended up landting into manual and pulling it off...

Improvements I'm hoping for in Skate 3 are:
1. Pedestrians! They got in the way of a run too many times, often causing extreme frustration and spoiling the fun. Same goes on occasion for other CPU skaters. 2. Whilst the flickit system works very well and is very intuitive, I really think the number of tricks assigned to the right thumbstick need to be thinned out a little. I know they improved this from Skate 1, but there are still too many tricks allocated to this control and it makes pulling off some tricks a bit hit-or-miss. Its getting there, just needs a bit more tweaking I'd say. 3. Walking. As everyone says, walking could do with a lot of refinement, I think it was tacked on as an after-thought in Skate 2, let's get it sorted. 4. No more near-impossible challenges like "Can You Spell Girl" please. If it weren't for the widely reported glitch on this challenge, I'm quite sure that 99% of us would have eventually given up on it without it being completed. I know there needs to be a range of easy & difficult challenges to suit all gamers, but this one was taking the ****! I'd say that's my shopping list for improvements. Having said that, I enjoyed Skate 1 although struggled to get into it because of the difficulty, but Skate 2 I still play regularly 10 months later since its release date back at the end of January of this year. Its a great feat to have a skateboarding game that "feels" like the real thing and also captures the spirit of skater culture in my opinion. I hope the Skate games stay true to themselves and to us skate fans for a long time to come.

But yes walking definately needs improvement, although I found that because it was so rubbish, I didn't use it much and skated instead. Which may be a good thing. I just hope that they keep it realistic, Skate2 was a bit too Tony Hawk-esque at times for my liking. Keeping the kids happy might sell games, but I think EA need to remember that it was OG Skate's realism that not only outsold TH that year, but caused Activision to go back to the drawing board and not release a TH game at all since.
