Hello again, fellow Skate fans
![]() Now we've already fed back our thoughts on the demo (which in honesty is no where near as good as the full game), I thought it would be cool (rippin' ) if we fed our thoughts back on the full version of the game.I've not played enough of the game yet to give a fair opinion, but I'm sure some of you have. I'll post my thoughts up in a little while

I got it. Yay. It wasn't easy though, long story and I'll edit this post after dinner to expand on the merry-go-round that was trying to buy the damm game today.
Ok, had my dinner now. So...in the city where I live, there are no less than 2 GAME stores, 1 GameStation, 2 soon to be out of business Zavvi stores, an HMV, and independant gaming shop and various supermarkets. Only ONE shop of the entire above list had any copies of Skate 2 left. Between phoning ahead to GAME and turning up at their shop, they had sold out, I phoned around all the other places to find out that only the GameStation had copies (they had already sold out their morning load, but had just got some more in stock). Now, I was able to get there around 4:30pm. And I'm pretty damm sure that there is no way there could have been THAT many people buying the game, so that left stores getting hardly any copies of the game as a possibility. I know the guy who runs the independant shop, so a bit later I asked him about it. He said he only received 8 copies of the game for this whole week! So it seems that EA really need to sort out their distribution or employ someone more capable of doing so. Anyway, I traded in some older games that I don't play anymore in exchange for this one, I'm "streamlining" my game collection so I only have games I really love playing, so that was a better option than actually paying for it as such. OK, I'm off to play for my first session of it now, oh yeah, once again, feel free to add me to your friends' list, gamertag (I'm on the 360 version) is Stormhead. I've had about 2 hours of playing time now so I'll have a go at writing my thoughts...
Firstly, I'm really pleased that the frame rate issue from the demo has gone. It's now as smooth, if not smoother than the original Skate imo. The walking mode still has a lot of room for improvement, but it's only a new concept so I'm not too fussed. Online seems really well set out again, with the Hall of Meat being particularly enjoyable. I've not tried a spot battle yet, but I presume it's just the same as last year's effort. As for the New San Van, I'm liking it! I dunno how much it's supposed to replicate the original San Van (I've seen a few of the landmarks from the original in the new - The Mega Ramp, some of the downtown plazas and school etc) but it's certainly changed hugely. One of my favourite spots is near the massive dam at the top of San Van where the Suburbs would have been on the original game. There's loads of hidden stuff up there, and some really nice scenery, such as the massive SAN VANELONA sign in the style of the HOLLYWOOD sign in Hollywood. It's an easy place to reach, just skitch on the back of a car (another great new feature). One of the things that most concerned me when reading about the game was that loads of rails in the downtown area had been blocked so you couldn't skate them. However, I like it how you can use your mobile phone to call up a guy to come and whip the blocks off with his crowbar ![]() The new tricks are really good too - boneless, bean plant, footplant etc. Adds more depth to your character's trick repetoir. One thing I'm not keen on though is the create-a-skater mode which hasn't been improved from the demo. You can still only see half his face when creating him, and when chosing his clothes you can't see his full body with the option to rotate him 360*, you just see his left side as he sits on a settee. All in all though, I'm really having fun so far

I think the create a skate is not very good at all. The variety of skaters is pretty poor, they all seem to look the same, and they are pretty ugly. I wanted to make a real babe, but she always turns out like your friend's emo younger sister. The game is massive though, more trick possibilities than in Skate 1, and I really like the create a spot feature. Not too sure about the replay editing too. It's all different from the first game, and I can't see how to make the camera angle switch smoothly between sections of your clip. For example, you are floowing your skater as he does some grinds on a flat section, then he jumps some stairs, and I want the camera to stay at the top of the stairs in Tripod mode, but I can't match the two cameras smoothly because you can't select the camera until you forward the clip a little, by which time the camera angle has changed!? Don't know if you are following this, but if you are and know how else to do this then I would love to hear. Overall, I am very pleased with Skate 2, which is great considering I thought it would be too similar to the old San Van. Haven't really explored that much but it's first impressions. |

for one, its much better the the first skate, i really like some of the "bonus" hall of meat things you can do(not in depth cuz its a kinda big thing ~.^)anyway, the new tricks are awesome, especially the hippie jump and the inverts, i have seen some "folow-me" mission glitches, such as the firie "tail" streching across the screen, but the new skateparks make up for that and much more, especially the mega-clubhouse later on in the game, but all in all, this is one great game, 16 thumbs up

Bought it today and it's so good. Much better than Skate. which was top class but Skate 2 is freakin quality! Love the new city, except the goons which suck *** big style, oh and the litter brings about moments of intense swearing when halfway through a race I go tripping over a coffee cup, losing the race and half my face with it. Apart from that it's all good. Still trying to hippy jump a car but broken legs always seems to be the outcome...

I have had high expectations of this game ever since they announced it. I've been playing a bit now and I think most parts of the game is great. I really enjoy the create-a-spot even though sometimes it can be a bit frustrating trying to put a kicker-ramp just right for you to make a gap.
One thing I do think was really lame of EA to do though was to keep so many of the old spots in this game. I was expecting a whole new city and being a skater myself, new spot were a big reason for me byuing this game. To me it just felt like EA was to lazy to create a whole new city and just copy-pasted some of the old stuff in. Like the Matrix-plaza, it's exactly(atleast as far as I have noticed) the same as in the previous game. They could have atleast put some new stuff in it or changed it around a bit. So all-in-all, I think this game was good but with more new spots it could have been much better, but maybe I'm too picky? |

I really enjoy the game..I have now completed most of the game apart from the 'Can you spell Girl?' pro challenge which I find is completely stupid how difficult it is. Having played the first Skate since it came out and up until about 1 month ago, Skate 2 is a lot better - lots of the little kinks have been ironed out and it is a very good game.
New San Vanelona is extremely well made and as I skate around it gives a real urban feeling. I often find myself coming across spots from skate 1 that have changed slightly and feel rather smug having found them. The fact that you can skate the old spots from Skate 1 but you can now handplant, footplant, crailslide etc is great. A few things that have dissapointed me are the constant glitches. Sometimes i'll see shadows sweep across my skaters back and they are pixellated - it had me questioning whether I have my HD to the right setting. There is also a specific area in the Mega compound right where the bowl is that you can jump over, there is flowing water to the side of the bowl that is constantly pixelated I don't mean to be picky but when I come across things like that it pulls the game down. The online is excellent and I'm glad the framerate issues and the lag have now been corrected. The game modes are all quite good and I enjoy how you can go from career to freeskate at the press of a couple of buttons. Something that did make me wonder was when I was online and I looked at the overall leaderboards (on PS3) and the 2 top people on the leaderboards - NP-USofA and NP-NASave. When I looked closer at NP-USofA's profile I found that he/she has been playing on Skate 2 since 13/12/2008 meaning he had the game weeks before the release date and it seems impossible for anyone to overtake him in the all time overall leaderboards because he has such a high score and rank (rank legend) How that person had the game in december I am unsure and would someone from EA like to clear that up for me? Overall I love the game and i'm looking forward to more DLC created in the future.

I've only played on it for a few hours and done a few of the challenges but just spent most of my time just skating around, unfortunately my xbox is now having a spazz and the screen just goes blank when I go play skate 2 on dashboard. So, my thoughts so far:
To start off with I was disappointed with the demo but the actual game has made up for that. From what I've seen so far I think it's a vast improvement on skate with the only down sides being, the cameras position which makes races much harder, nnot being able to browse clothing by brand, walking and the challenges sometimes being rather annoying. Probably the best thing I've done so far was the challenge where you find the Creature bowl, I only hope there are more little gems like that. I wish I could say more but I won't really have much else to say till my xbox stops being a ****. |

the new tricks are really good. and the story line is pretty cool. some insight into what actually happened to san van would make things clearer.
i got it on saturday and have sore thumbs already.. haha so far i'm having a lot of fun, got as far as a board sponsor. only things i'm finding dissapointing again were the hairstyles, i know it's a skateboarding game and hair's got little to do with skateboarding(try telling Jim Greco that) but i feel the styles/image and such are biased towards the whole ghetto skate scene and quite far away from skatepunk (duane peters corey duffel sorta thing). i do wonder if the downloadable content will include braydon szafranski's wardrobe cause that jacket he's rockin looks right up my alley. anyways enough about the wardrobe issues. i love the improved graphics, new tricks, getting off your board, liberating pools/ ledges, the new spots to own, the sketchyness of the mega compound, new hall of meat!, buying properties. all the additions have been great. the walking could be a bit more fluid though. im not completely sure how to send myself the graphics i created though. online play is a hell of a lot better! speaking of which any ps3 folk: adda89ldn |

I may plan on getting Skate 2, but is it worth getting? Because I heard some good reviews and some bad ones. Some say its a step down from Skate, and other's say this is the best skateboarding game ever made.

Nah, it's not easy at all. Well, that might just me being rubbish at the game
![]() Anyway, I'm stuck on a Pro Challenge, where I need to handplant on the top of a basketball back board. I've litereally tried it 20 times and still haven't got it. |

However, because I find this rather difficult, it DOES keep me playing it. I really feel like I'm developing more 'skill' with this game every day! And thats just cool! |
