i may be posting in the wrong place here but i havn't really seen any suggestions boards here so i guess this will be the best place. i think that the games market these days is desperately missing a good BMX game. and with skate being rather amazing i would absolutely love to see a bmx game built using the same engine.
Considering the last BMX game to be released was mat hoffmans 2 waaaay back in 2002 i think it was a new one is definately well overdue. anyway this is a plea to EA to look into the idea of such a game, surely some market research etc into it won't do much harm. and i can't be the only bmxer out there who plays skate just because i have to and sit there imagining what it would look like with a bike there instead of a board. |

to be hoest i totally agree matt hoffman was fairly good & the only other bmx game i remember was dave mirra's but that was released before 2002 i think, not too sure that the skate engine would would but using ea's talent with the analogue sticks I'm sure that "ea bike" would rock, please please please get in before activision otherwise were due for more moon physics & amazing tricks performed by a press of the x button...
also it'd be nice if it didn't have a major name too, i liked the fact that I was discovering skaters i'd never heard of with skate & reckon there's gotta be some decent semi pro riders out there... |

i totally agree! i think that with a little tweaking the skate engine would work, think about nollie pop shuv for barspin? just to throw another idea on the table. maybe they could put the two games into one, if the scoring system was the same then you could have online battles with bikes vs boards etc.

been chatting with friends today and they all agree a new bmx game is definately needed. all my local skate parks these days are about 50% bmx, 30% skaters (inline, blades whatever) and 20% skateboards. so there must be the market out there.
another thing is that a bmx game could easily be done using practically the same engine as skate same buttons and everything the only major issues looking at it myself is graphically. and of course to keep in with the much more realistic physics of skate ( thank god its not a tony hawks clone.) just to make sure you can't ride along and do a 360 superman or some stupid stuff on flat. |

sounds like you have a plan, i actually bmx in real life, can't say I've been to any skate parks recently though as i'm 31 and falling off kinda hurts now, but i see from day to day that more people are getting into extreme sports, it's a shame as i used to get a whole heap of abuse at school for being a "dude"...
Actually i've since remembered that there was a game on the ps2 called bmxxx or something similar where you could create a lap dancer type character but the game itself was pretty dire... Last edited by whogotgot; 07-04-2008 at 03:59 PM.. Reason: memory came back |

hmmm....this is probably a bit of a crazy idea what wont be used as it could get too complicated, BUT, how about instead of EA SKATE. 2 have EA EXTREME. and incorporate skateboarding, inline and bmx all into one game, the reason i bring this up is because SKATE is the most realistic skating game out there and i think that adding bmx and inline into the game with skateboarding would make it even more realistic as no where has only skateboarders and also it would add a big variation to online modes as you will get to ride with other people not necesarily doing the same thing

the 50% bmx'ers and 30% inliners isn't true in the U.S. Skateboard scene is much bigger.
Only here in the U.K cos' hlaf the kids haven't got the talent, commitment and determination. Also the councils that build skate parks here, are those crappy pre-frab one's, that are only good for - you guessed it! BMX'ers and inliners. Not forgetting ASBO kids who just use em' to p#ss on and get p#ssed with their chav mates. |

i agree that the addition of bmx's and inline is a good idea but may make the game to big, i know id keep flitting between one or the other and that would take a long time to master but still im up for a challenge however the control system would have to represent each sport for example with the bike you should have to do the nollie movment to pop (representing the weight shift of the bmxer) then to barspin let the stick go to the middle and then flick it right but to do a table top do the nollie motion but then when the sticks back slide it round to the side in the same move (awkwardly explaind but hopfully you get what i mean) and for inline maybe indipendant foot control, might be hard but could be interesting that way they wouldn't just be tacked on to the game but a new experiance to learn wich having tried all three at some point in my life (now having settled with the best, skateboarding) i know they are all completley different.

the main reason there hasn't been one is yet is because of the accountants. why do you think the real reason Skate and Skate 2 were released? the accountants saw how much money was made from the tony hawks series and wanted a slice of it, thank god they managed to get it right. everything nowadays is run by the money men, if a game doesnt look too viable financially for them they will very rarely bother
