Default Just been given the Sims (1) deluxe and hot date but...

all I seem to do is feed them, get them up in time for work, make them rest and ring their mates to stop them falling out with each other! There never seems to be time to go to the town or anything like that...

Is there anything else to do or is it that repetitive?

Is sims 2 (plain one or the double deluxe set) better? I've seen some on ebay real cheap (am hard-up!) but am nervous to get it incase it's just more of the same

I'd appreciate your thoughts

TIA

The Sims 1 is a very good game (well I think so anyway), but the Sims 2 has alot of added features, but there is still more features in The Sims 1 than you have listed. Do you ever build houses or community lots? That can be really fun. But if you want more to do, you can get The Sims 2, but on my opinion, I like the sims 1 best. But both these games are better in different ways. And the Sims 2 has really improved graphics.

Can you remind me what expansions are on Double Deluxe again?

I'd say sims 2 is way better than the first sims.. theres just lots more to do if you get the expansion packs aswell.. and way better graphics =]

Hi and welcome

You might find that you enjoy The Sims 2 more but the basis is the same in both games- you are looking after (or neglecting ) your Sims.

One thing that is worth noting is that cheaper items such as beds and chairs give less comfort to your Sims so they need longer to feel happy and this eats in to time to do other things. It is the same with objects and items that give your Sims fun- the cheaper ones aren't as effective as the more expensive ones.

In The Sims 2, your Sims get days off from work as there are 7 day weeks with real schedules for jobs so that allows more time for your Sims to explore.

Hello simsnewbie
Sometimes it can seem that all you do is tend to your sims basic needs!

If you send one of your sims downtown, they will return to their own lot at the same time that they left the lot - so, you wont lose any time for gaining skills for promotion etc but your sim may be tired on their return.
.
Whilst downtown, your sim will most likely encounter some of those friends - so no need for the phone calls.

I hope this helps?

I once put a bed in one of the restaurants so that my sim could stay longer at a community lot hehehe

oh no! I do like it - spend friggin HOURS on sims! Just thinking I'm not getting the full potential out of my gameplaying

Next question: does time stand still at the house when you go downtown? (ie if I went downtown at 6pm, would I return home at 6pm?)

That's right, time stands still at home. But you will return with the same needs you had downtown
