Long story...
I had every single expansion for the game, but we sold them on Ebay. There were too many CDs to reinstall all the time and I kept gaining and losing interest in it. My boyfriend recently bought me The Sims Collection the same day TS3 came out. (Which so happened to be my birthday) Anyway, the install went great, etc. However when I go the first neighborhood in the game, there are no sims in the houses or anything. No Goths, Newbies, etc. Not even the Roomie family in the create a sim bin. So any ideas? Plus, the expansions keep "loading" Such as, "Please wait while stars are getting out of their limos." For Superstar? All those messages will keep loading and loading. I've reinstalled it as well with no luck. |

Hello Cophi,
Sorry to hear you are having problems running the Sims. ![]() I don't think your game has installed properly and from what you write, you have installed and reinstalled the game on your PC a few times, so possibly there might be a corrupt file. I would recommend that you uninstall the game again., then do a disk clean up and degrament your PC, then restart your PC. Turn off all running programmes - especially anti-virus - and follow the instructions for installing the game. If your PC has Windows Vista, install the Sims in compatability mode for early versions of Windows. Good luck with your game!

My guess is you're running the game on Vista?
The game is installed on your C-drive. If your account is not set up to be able to alter programming files on your C-drive, the game gets stuck in a loop. The 'wait for superstars to get out of the limos' message is displayed in the beginning, when the game is creating the NPCs (Townies, Somebodies, etc.) If your permissions aren't set right, that means the game can't write these new NPCs to the proper folder, so it will keep trying over and over again to make them... If you indeed have Vista, I recommend you uninstall, run Eraser and reinstall on an account with 'administration privileges'. Sims 1 is a primitive game, it needs to change data in the core of the game *all the time* - every time your Sim does something to alter his stats, the new stats have to be written into the game. Vista usually does not allow just any user to write directly into the programming files on the C-drive. I hope this made sense... |
